Many activities to take care of children of union members and workers

Along with taking care of the lives of union members and workers, the Trade Unions at all levels of Can Tho City always pay attention to and create conditions for children of union members and workers to have a safe and healthy living environment, especially those in difficult circumstances. Thereby, helping union members and workers feel secure in their work, production, and completing their tasks well.

Leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Can Tho City Labor Federation presented scholarships to children of Party members and laborers who overcame difficulties and studied well.

Can Tho City Labor Federation has just organized a "Summer Camp" activity at Ong De Tourist Area for children of workers and employees who have difficult circumstances and have overcome difficulties to study well. At the "Summer Camp", children can experience and participate in activities and games: dragon boat racing on land, water transfer with reeds, sack jumping, throwing rings at pillars... along with many activities to practice useful life skills.

According to the leader of the Can Tho City Labor Confederation, in response to the "Month of Action for Children" in 2025, with the theme "Prioritizing resources to complete goals for children", the Can Tho City Labor Confederation continues to pay attention to the children of union members and workers in difficult circumstances. After more than 3 weeks of organizing the Month of Action for Children in 2025, the Can Tho City Labor Confederation has awarded 482 scholarships to children of union members, workers, civil servants, and workers who have overcome difficulties and studied well, with a total value of over 340 million VND, drawn from the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund of the Can Tho Trade Union and socialized sources. Trade unions at all levels have awarded nearly 12,000 gifts to children of union members and workers, with a total value of over 2.7 billion VND.

Mr. Dinh Nguyen Anh Khoa, a janitor at Can Tho Pesticide Joint Stock Company, shared: “On the occasion of the Month of Action for Children, the City Labor Union gave my daughter a scholarship. My family is in a difficult situation, my janitor's salary and my wife's salary as a worker are not high, the economy is often in deficit. The scholarship has great meaning for my daughter, encouraging her to study harder. This support also creates more motivation for my wife and I to work with peace of mind and strive to produce labor."

Along with meaningful activities during the Month of Action for Children, the care and education of children is included in the annual work plans and programs of the city's Trade Unions and widely implemented from the city to the grassroots, focusing on occasions such as the opening of the new school year, Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year... Every year, the Can Tho City Labor Federation guides and directs all levels of the Trade Unions to implement women's work, including strengthening the organization of activities to care for children of union members and employees in difficult circumstances; encouraging units to have new ways to improve the effectiveness of caring for children of union members and employees. Typically, the Trade Union of Hau Giang Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company advises and proposes to the enterprise leaders to establish a kindergarten named Vuon Tuoi Tho to take care of children of union members and employees in the unit. Thereby, children of employees sent to the nursery are not only taken care of but also receive free tuition and only pay 30,000 VND/child/day for meals. Children under 12 months old also receive free meals. All operating costs of the nursery are sponsored by the Company.

Many enterprise trade unions have increased their advice to leaders to organize many meaningful activities to care for, create conditions, and encourage and motivate children of employees and workers to strive to study better. Typically, the Trade Union of Can Tho Minerals and Cement Joint Stock Company maintains the granting of scholarships to children of employees and workers who have achieved excellent academic results every school year and gives notebooks to all children of employees and workers who are of school age; the Trade Union of MF Vietnam Co., Ltd. maintains the granting of rewards to children of employees and workers who are good students from 200,000 to 500,000 VND/child/child depending on each level of education...

Promoting activities to care for children of union members and workers of Can Tho City Trade Union at all levels not only contributes to the implementation of the task of protecting, caring for and educating children in the area with other levels and sectors, but also practically helps union members and workers overcome difficulties and feel secure in their work and production. Thereby, affirming the role of the Trade Union organization as a support for union members and workers.
