A group of preschool children suspected of rat poison poisoning have been discharged from the hospital.

After 3 days of treatment at the Department of Pediatrics, Lai Chau General Hospital, with the support of experts from Bach Mai Hospital, the group of children suspected of poisoning due to eating rat poison in Lai Chau were discharged from the hospital in normal health condition.


On the afternoon of November 8, information from Lai Chau General Hospital said that after 3 days of intensive treatment, the health of 20 children in the suspected poisoning case due to eating rat poison has returned to normal.

Before discharge, all children had good appetite, clinical improvement, no vomiting, no convulsions, and no clinical bleeding disorders.

Coagulation test samples PT, INR at 48 and 72 hours were normal and discharge was arranged.

Earlier, on the morning of November 5, Lai Chau General Hospital received 20 children, students of Giang Ma Kindergarten, Tam Duong District, suspected of having mistakenly eaten rat poison. Through initial examination, 2/20 children showed symptoms of abdominal pain and nausea.

After receiving the patient, the medical team of the Pediatrics Department, Lai Chau General Hospital took blood and digestive fluid and sent them to the Central Government for toxicology testing; at the same time, performed necessary clinical emergency steps, administered fluids, and treated the patient according to the poisoning protocol.

Relatives of the victims cleaned up and discharged the children from the hospital.

Test results of 6/20 children showed low levels of Warfarin (rat poison) in their blood.

To ensure the safety of the pediatric patients, Bach Mai Hospital sent a team of doctors, including leading experts from the Poison Control Center, the Hematology-Blood Transfusion Center, the Pediatric Center, the Institute of Mental Health, and the Department of Pharmacy, to Lai Chau to directly examine and treat the patients, ensuring their safety.

Regarding the above incident, on November 6, Tam Duong District Police investigated the incident and verified the origin of the biological rat poison that appeared in the school.
