Photos expose the "hidden enemy" that harms the future environment

The exhibition of paintings, photos and propaganda materials on plastic waste prevention held in Nam Dinh province attracted a large number of people to participate, helping the community better understand how to protect the environment.

On the evening of November 28, 2024, the Department of Grassroots Information (Ministry of Information and Communications) coordinated with the Department of Information and Communications of Nam Dinh and Nam Dinh Nursing University to organize an exhibition of paintings, photos and documents on propaganda against plastic waste. The exhibition is a practical communication activity to implement the project to promote propaganda on plastic waste prevention in the period of 2021 - 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Department of Basic Information Nguyen Van Tao said that Vietnam is a country facing problems related to environmental pollution, climate change, rising sea levels, especially plastic waste pollution caused by humans.

“In fact, the level of plastic waste pollution in our country is currently very serious and is increasing over time, being one of the “burdens” on the environment, and can even lead to environmental disasters, directly affecting people's lives and health, and the growth of related economic sectors such as aquaculture and tourism…” the Director of the Department of Basic Information emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tao expressed his wish that through the images and documents displayed at the exhibition, he would provide viewers with information on the harmful effects of plastic waste and plastic bags on the economy, society, environment and human health. Thereby, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of the community to change the habit of using plastic bags and disposable plastic products and gradually switch to using products that are close and friendly to the environment; collect and recycle plastic products, towards a circular economy, green economy and green growth.

The exhibition attracted a large number of students and local people to participate.

Nguyen Thi Nu, a student at Nam Dinh Nursing University, shared: “The exhibition helped me see more clearly the seriousness of plastic waste. The images in the exhibition helped me understand that each person only needs to change their habits a little, such as bringing a personal water bottle or limiting the use of plastic bags, to contribute to reducing a lot of plastic waste in the environment.”

Dao Thi Hong Nguyet, a student at Nam Dinh Nursing University, also expressed her excitement when attending the exhibition. Nguyet said: "As a medical student, I am well aware that plastic waste may not kill people immediately, but its consequences are extremely frightening. I attended the exhibition to learn more knowledge and hope to contribute a small part in spreading awareness of environmental protection. Coming here, meeting friends with the same goal is also a very meaningful experience."
