Tourist destinations amid the heritage flow of Thanh land

Tourists visit Lam Kinh National Special Historical Site.

In the autumn days of August, the Ho Dynasty Citadel Cultural Heritage is one of the attractive destinations in the journey to discover Thanh culture. The giant stone slabs stacked firmly, the surface imprinted with traces of time, seem to tell the story of the Ho Dynasty and the aspiration to build the country more than 600 years ago. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage since 2011, this massive citadel is also a testament to the intelligence and creativity of the Vietnamese people in the 14th century. In recent years, activities reenacting traditional rituals and tours connecting with the surrounding area have made Ho Dynasty Citadel a new destination for domestic and international tourists.

Tourist Tran Thi Minh from Hanoi shared: “I read a lot about Thanh Nha Ho, but only when I came here did I truly feel the scale and sophistication of the construction. Standing among the ancient stone blocks, I felt like I was touching the past, imagining the days when our ancestors spent so much effort to create this wonder. And the mysterious stories behind the citadel and the land of Tay Do always make people curious, wanting to come back to explore .

The journey to discover Thanh Hoa's cultural heritage will also take visitors to Lam Kinh Historical Relic Site - a sacred land associated with the Lam Son uprising and the national hero Le Loi. Up to now, the relic site has been preserved, restored and become one of the province's key cultural tourism destinations. Every year in the eighth lunar month, the Lam Kinh Festival takes place here, attracting thousands of visitors and people to participate. It is the harmonious combination of relic conservation, festival organization associated with tourism development that has made Lam Kinh a destination for cultural, historical and contemporary tourism, so that every Vietnamese person leaves with a deep sense of pride.

Tour guide of Lam Kinh Historical Relic Management Board Le Thi Thuc expressed: “We not only consider introducing heritage to tourists as a job, but also a pride. Each story, each artifact is a part of the soul of the homeland, of the destination, and our responsibility is to convey it so that visitors can feel and love this land more”.

Along with famous heritages, traditional craft villages are also gradually becoming interesting "meeting places" for tourists who love to experience. Craft villages in the Western region of Thanh Hoa are famous for brocade weaving, bearing the mark of the Thai and Muong ethnic groups; or bronze casting village of Thieu Trung commune; sticky rice cake village of Tu Tru... are places that preserve hundreds of years of secrets, all of which are being incorporated into experiential tours. From watching artisans work, learning about the production process, to creating products themselves, helping tourists live in a unique cultural space, clearly feeling the vitality of the heritage on the land of Thanh Hoa.

Facing the trend of developing tourism that emphasizes cultural experiences, each heritage, scenic spot, and craft village in Thanh Hoa is striving to become a "meeting place" - a place where people come to rest, explore, experience, and feel. From thousand-year-old stone formations, sacred relics, vibrant beaches to colorful festivals, all are creating an attractive tourism flow.
