(VTC News) – The flash flood in Lang Nu ( Lao Cai ) took the lives of 8 children, their school belongings have now become their last keepsakes.

According to statistics from the authorities, the flash flood in Lang Nu village buried 37 houses, affecting 158 people, including 18 children under 6 years old. So far, the authorities have determined that 8 children are safe, 2 are missing, and 8 have had their bodies found. The head of Lang Nu village confirmed that the youngest victim was only 39 days old.

Quietly arranging the toys and belongings of the children who died in the flood, teacher Hoang Thi Nu (36 years old) said that the children's houses were all swept away by the flood, nothing was left. The only documents they had were the records kept at school. "I have to prepare and arrange, in a few days I will have the papers to register their deaths," she shared, and only hoped that the children would go to school, teachers and students could meet again, eat, sleep, play, and meet in class. She will never forget those memories.

Forces are actively searching for victims. The total number of forces participating in the search and rescue is 650 people (local 350; Military Region 2 300).

In Lao Cai province, at least 88 people have died, 85 are missing and 70 are injured.
