On the afternoon of September 22, the yard of Nguyen Thai Binh High School, Ho Chi Minh City, was filled with the cheers of hundreds of students in the school theater program "Welcome to the new school year 2025-2026" organized by Lac Long Quan Theater Club under the direction of the Department of Culture - Sports of Ho Chi Minh City. Although the afternoon was still covered with dark clouds due to the storm, when the program started, the sky was clear and the fresh air seemed to add more vitality to the traditional art performances.

Vo Minh Lam is loved by students

The highlight that made the stage explode was the performance of Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam with the traditional folk song "Towards the Ancestral Land". His soulful voice and friendly demeanor conquered the young audience, making the students clap and cheer, creating a moment of harmony between the artist and the crowd of students.

The program, organized by Lac Long Quan Stage Club and "Bac Son Love Songs" Art Troupe in collaboration with Nguyen Thai Binh High School, is one of a series of 10 performances that have been performed in Ho Chi Minh City and is expected to have 20 more performances in many other schools. The same morning, the program was performed at Trung Phu High School, Cu Chi.

With the goal of bringing reformed opera, folk songs, and traditional music closer to schools, the program has built rich content: from traditional songs, historical excerpts to songs with folk melodies.

Vo Minh Lam is grateful to musician Bac Son

He said that while waiting for the performance, he listened to many good songs by musician - Meritorious Artist Bac Son - a son of the Southern region and learned that September 23 is the death anniversary of his wife - poet Ngoc Bich - who composed the poem "Thanh may em ve", so he set it to music to create a very lyrical and graceful song.

"I and many generations of artists and singers are grateful to Mr. Bac Son, he wrote many good songs and many profound and meaningful plays. School theater increases its value when it brings songs with folk melodies and core values from the cultural roots of the nation. I love: "Con thuong rau dang moc sau he", "Sa mua giong", "Ve ve ven que mao", "Em di tren co non"... songs that will never fade in the hearts of the public have been played in the programs "School Theater" - Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam said.

Participating in the program "School Stage" are many artists and singers loved by students such as: Bich Thuy, Ha Chau, Khanh Tuan, Binh Map, Binh Chinh, models La Tran Duc Thien, Hoang Trung Anh, Chau Nhat Tin, Huy Truong, Yen Phuong, Thu Thao, Minh Tram, To Kim Ngan, Thanh Hieu, Ngoc Trang, Vuong Quynh Anh, Bao Kiet, Quang Dai...

Speaking after the show, Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam was moved: "I am very happy to see the students cheering enthusiastically for Cai Luong. That proves that traditional art still has a strong vitality in the hearts of the young generation. I hope that programs like this will spread more and more, so that students can both entertain and foster their love for national culture. Singer Ha Chau, who participated in many performances in the series, shared: "What makes me happy is when I see the students' eyes light up when they hear a vọng cổ verse or a folk melody. They not only listen but also sing along, clap their hands, and join in the rhythm. That is a great encouragement for us."

Loved by student audiences for his charming comedy and sweet voice, comedian Binh Map, witty but passionate, said: "I am used to performing comedy on big stages, but now I get to come to school to interact and perform for students, it feels different and interesting. The students are very sincere in their reception. This proves that as long as an artist is close and sincere, any art can easily touch the hearts of young audiences, especially when the play written by musician Bac Son is incorporated into his famous song."

With the participation of famous artists and the enthusiastic reception from students, the school stage program "Welcome to the new school year 2025-2026" has contributed to kick-starting an exciting new school year and continuing the journey of preserving and promoting traditional arts right from the general education environment. This is also a good sign for nurturing the love of traditional culture in the young generation - the future owners of the country.
