Orphaned female student receives full university scholarship and living expenses

Ho Huynh Nhi completes admission procedures to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

New student Ho Huynh Nhi (Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City) has just completed admission procedures for the restaurant and food service management major at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

Due to her extremely difficult circumstances, Huynh Nhi was awarded a 100% tuition scholarship for the entire university program and a living allowance of 2,000,000 VND/month.

Ho Huynh Nhi's situation was extremely harsh. From the 9th grade, her mother left her father and Nhi without a word of goodbye. In the following months, her father struggled to take care of Nhi alone, but because life was so difficult, he decided to go to the city to find work and sent Nhi to live with her schoolmate's grandparents. Not long after, her father passed away due to a serious illness.

One incident after another, homeless and without a place to depend on, the little student was taken care of by her grandparents in a charity house. To help her grandparents, after school, Nhi and her friends helped her grandmother make grilled corn to sell, earning a few tens of thousands to cover her daily food expenses.

Although life was hard, it seemed that Nhi's determination and will to succeed never failed. For 12 years, the little girl always tried her best to study and always had a burning dream of going to university, even though she knew that without relatives, her family would have a very difficult time.

Huynh Nhi confided: "Although it was very difficult, I always tried to study throughout my high school years and had a big dream. That was to go to university, so that in the future I could have a stable job to take care of my life, because my father had gone, i have no support anymore".

Nhi said that in the future, she will try to study well, improve herself to have a stable job in a restaurant or hotel in the culinary field. While studying, she will also work part-time to cover her student life.
