The news that Pham Thi Hau, a good and studious orphan girl, has just achieved a high score (29 points in block C00) has made the whole coastal fishing village of Tam Tien (Tam Xuan commune, Da Nang city) excited. The determined little girl is a shining example of overcoming difficulties, inspiring many friends of the same age.

Mr. Ngo Thanh Doan - Hau's uncle burst into tears when he heard that his nephew got high scores in the recent high school graduation exam. Hau was at a disadvantage compared to his friends because he lost his parents early, but he overcame adversity, worked hard to achieve high academic results and high scores.
Mr. Doan said that when Hau was in 5th grade, her mother unfortunately died in an accident early, and her father was sick and could not do any heavy work. Loving her, Mr. Doan took Hau to live with him, raised her and took care of her education. Hau was a hard-working girl, and after school she helped her uncle's family with housework and selling groceries.
In 2024, Hau's father passed away due to a serious illness. Once again, the pain of losing a loved one cut deep into her heart, and everyone was heartbroken. Her uncle and neighbors tried to encourage her to overcome it.
Hau, on the other hand, was quieter, she studied and worked hard. She was small in stature but had a strong will, she promised herself to study hard as a way to make her parents feel at ease in the afterlife, as well as to repay her uncle's protection, care and upbringing.

In response to those efforts is a high academic record throughout his junior and senior years. In the recent high school graduation exam, Hau excellently achieved 29 points in block C00, including 9.5 points in Literature, 9.75 points in History and 9.75 points in Geography.
Hau shared that, in addition to his passion for the subjects, he always tries to find effective learning methods for each subject. For him, History is not just a dry subject of numbers and events, but a journey to explore the past, a vivid story about the nation and humanity. It is the love for this subject that helps him easily absorb and remember knowledge.
I often divide my timetable very specifically, closely combining in-class learning with self-study and practice at home. "When studying History, I try to divide large timelines into smaller, easier-to-remember stages, and at the same time draw mind maps to systematize my knowledge. This helps me not only remember events but also understand the connections, causes, and results between historical periods," Hau revealed.
For Geography, I also apply a similar method, focusing on combining theory with practice, applying knowledge to analyze charts, maps and real data. In addition, I regularly practice solving different types of exercises, thereby grasping tips and skills to do the exercises effectively.
As for Literature, a subject that requires deep understanding and the ability to express fluently, Hau realized that he needed further training and guidance. Hau said that he was lucky to learn more from a dedicated Literature teacher, Ms. Bui Thi Hoa. “She not only imparted knowledge but also inspired my love of literature. I also spent a lot of time reading more books, newspapers, and literary works to apply to my writing,” Hau shared.

Reading widely helps Hau expand his vocabulary, enrich his social knowledge, thereby improving his ability to write, argue and express his emotions in literary essays. The combination of learning from teachers, friends and self-study from books has created a solid foundation to help Hau confidently conquer Literature with high scores.
Although his financial situation is not good, Mr. Doan said he will try to provide his grandchild with a good education, so that he can achieve his dream. He is only worried about studying far away from home, not knowing if his grandchild can take care of everything from living to traveling in a foreign land.
Hau said that with the above score, he will register for the Literature Pedagogy major at Da Nang University because he has long cherished his dream of becoming a literature teacher, inspiring other students in each lecture.
“I dream of standing on the podium, imparting knowledge and passion for learning to future generations” – Pham Thi Hau shared.
Mr. Dinh Gia Thien, Principal of Phan Boi Chau High School, shared that despite her unfortunate circumstances of being orphaned, Pham Thi Hau is a diligent student and works hard in her studies. The school always encourages and supports her throughout her studies. Every year, the school and donors draw from scholarship funds to award meaningful scholarships, with the hope of accompanying her to overcome difficulties in life.
