Enthusiastic female head of the front work committee

The cultural house of 5B Quang Trung neighborhood (Uong Bi ward) is lit up every night. There is a folk dance team enthusiastically practicing folk dances under the enthusiastic guidance of Ms. Ho Thi Minh Hoa, Head of the Front Work Committee of the neighborhood.

In 2022, after participating in a number of dance classes organized by Uong Bi City, Ms. Hoa found that this was a good artistic sport for mental and physical health, so she proposed to the neighborhood leaders to open a free folk dance class for the women. From the basic skills learned, plus learning and creativity, Ms. Hoa persistently trained each movement and technique of dancing and folk dancing for the women. The fun, easy-to-learn, easy-to-remember exercises, combined with music , light, and the enthusiasm of "teacher" Hoa, created an exciting, joyful, and contagious playground, attracting a large number of people in the area to participate.

Ms. Hoa confided that she did not dare to be called a teacher. She just loves folk dances that bring laughter, solidarity, are a way to exercise to stay healthy and bring people closer together, so she wants to inspire, wants to form a group of people with the same passion to participate in activities...

The folk dance team of 5B Quang Trung ward once attracted hundreds of participants, divided into many teams. This model was taken as the nucleus by Quang Trung ward (old) and replicated to other wards in the area, creating a large movement to this day.

Having worked in the 5B Quang Trung neighborhood for 5 years now, Ms. Hoa is a creative, enthusiastic, and responsible staff member of the neighborhood, in which she is a pioneer in environmental protection activities and social charity work of the neighborhood. The model "Turning trash into money" established by her and the Women's Union of the neighborhood has been operating effectively, not only forming the habit of collecting and classifying trash in households, but also reusing trash, turning trash into money, into a fund for the Union to operate, and into a stable source of income for some workers.

Ms. Hoa said: In the process of collecting and sorting waste, we saw many new and beautiful items that could be recycled for use. We consulted some of your methods and learned online to weave and combine them into daily household items that can be sold, such as brooms, handbags, flowers, vases, baskets, trays, decorations, etc. After completing these products, we were surprised because they were beautiful and really useful.

Revenue from selling handicraft products from the “Turning trash into money” model is partly used to cover production costs, pay direct implementers, the Association Fund, and carry out social and charitable activities. In the past 3 years, 5B Quang Trung neighborhood has sponsored 1 student with difficult circumstances; provided emergency support for tuition, health insurance, and short-term vocational training costs for 3-5 cases/year; supported the construction and repair of houses for near-poor households, etc.
