5 months: Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports earned 24.14 billion USD Agricultural exports to China: The flow continues to be cleared

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development , the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the first 6 months of the year reached 29.2 billion USD, up 19% over the same period in 2023. Of which, the main agricultural products group was 15.76 billion USD, up 24.4%; main forestry products 7.95 billion USD, up 21.2%; aquatic products 4.36 billion USD, up 4.9%; livestock products 240 million USD, up 3.8%. Particularly, production input was 904 million USD, down 1.8% and salt 2.3 million USD, down 1.7%.

In the first half of 2024, rice exports reached 4.68 million tons (up 10.4%), worth 2.98 billion USD (up 32%).

Contributing to that result, there were 7 products and product groups with export value reaching over 1 billion USD (coffee, rubber, rice, vegetables, cashew nuts, shrimp, wood and wood products); in which rice and cashew nuts were 2 products that increased both export volume and value. Specifically, rice export reached 4.68 million tons (up 10.4%), value 2.98 billion USD (up 32%); cashew nut export 350 thousand tons (up 24.9%), value 1.92 billion USD (up 17.4%).

Although coffee volume decreased (reaching 902 thousand tons, down 10.5%), thanks to the average export price increasing by 50.4%, the export value reached 3.22 billion USD (up 34.6%).

Regarding export markets: The United States, China and Japan continue to be the three largest export markets for Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products; export value to the United States market accounts for 20.7%, up 20.8%; China accounts for 20.2%, up 9.5% and Japan accounts for 6.7%, up 5%.

On the other hand, the total import turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products was about 20.92 billion USD. The trade surplus of the entire agricultural sector reached about 8.28 billion USD, an increase of 62.4%.

Of which, the 5 items with the highest trade surplus include: Wood and wood products 6.16 billion USD (up 22.5%); coffee 3.14 billion USD (up 36.2%); vegetables and fruits 2.42 billion USD (up 35.3%); rice 2.31 billion USD (up 27%); shrimp 1.43 billion USD (up 13.3%).

The five items with the highest trade deficit include: animal feed and raw materials 2.13 billion USD (up 17.5%); cotton of all kinds 1.5 billion USD (up 9%); products from agricultural products 1.51 billion USD (up 7.2%); corn 1.17 billion USD (down 2.2%); wheat 828 million USD (down 3.6%).
