Rice prices today, August 4, in the Mekong Delta region remain stable compared to yesterday. The buying and selling market is slow, supply is low, rice quality is poor, prices are stable.

The rice market in the Mekong Delta today generally has low supply, low quality rice, and stable prices.

Specifically, in An Cu ( Soc Trang ), the supply is stable, there is a lot of weak rice, the price is stable, and the warehouse purchases are slow. In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), the supply is low, the price is stable, the warehouse purchases are moderate, and the rice price is stable. In An Giang, the price is stable, the warehouse purchases are slow. In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), the price is moderate, the price of raw rice is low, the price is moderate.

At retail markets, rice prices have not been adjusted for individual rice products. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price of VND30,000/kg; Jasmine rice is VND18,000 - VND20,000/kg; Nang Hoa rice is VND20,000/kg; regular rice fluctuates around VND15,000 - VND16,000/kg; long-grain fragrant rice is VND20,000 - VND21,000/kg; Huong jasmine rice is VND20,000/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice is VND21,000/kg; common white rice is VND17,000/kg; regular Soc rice is VND18,500/kg; Thai Soc rice is VND20,000/kg; Japanese rice is VND22,000/kg.

Regarding rice, it is noted that rice transactions in localities are moderate, rice prices fluctuate little, and farmers offer stable prices.

Specifically, according to the update from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, today's rice prices recorded no adjustment compared to yesterday, IR 50404 price fluctuated around 6,900 - 7,000 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice was at 7,400 - 7,600 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice was at 7,000 - 7,200 VND/kg; OM 18 rice was at 7,500 - 7,700 VND/kg; OM 380 fluctuated from 6,800 - 7,000 VND/kg; Nhat rice was at 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 was at 6,900 - 7,000 VND/kg, and Nang Nhen rice (dry) was at 20,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, the sticky rice market recorded no adjustment compared to yesterday. Long An sticky rice (dried) 7,000 - 7,900 VND/kg, stable compared to yesterday. IR 4625 sticky rice (fresh) 7,200 - 7,400 VND/kg. Long An sticky rice (fresh) 7,400 - 7,600 VND/kg. An Giang sticky rice (fresh) 7,000 - 7,200 VND/kg, unchanged compared to yesterday.

Regarding rice, the price of rice recorded no adjustment compared to yesterday. Specifically, IR 504 summer-autumn raw rice was at 11,050 - 11,150 VND/kg; IR 504 finished rice fell to 13,200 - 13,300 VND/kg.

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices recorded no adjustment compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 100% broken rice was at 435 USD/ton; 5% broken standard rice remained at 559 USD/ton; 25% broken rice was at 524 USD/ton.

According to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 7 months of 2024, Vietnam exported 5.18 million tons of rice with a turnover of 3.27 billion USD, up 25.1% in volume and 5.8% in value over the same period last year.

In the first 7 months of the year, the rice planting area reached 6.25 million hectares, up 0.2% over the same period last year; harvested 3.82 million hectares, up 1.3%; average yield 65.6 quintals/hectare, up 0.5 quintals/hectare; rice output on the harvested area reached 25 million tons, up 2%.

Compared to a year ago – when the rice market was bustling due to the impact of India’s rice export ban – the current rice price is at the same level. The rice market has almost established a new price level.

However, the export price of rice compared to a year ago recorded a slight decrease. Specifically, on August 3, 2023, the export price of 5% broken rice from Vietnam was at 593 USD/ton; 25% broken rice was at 573 USD/ton.
