Rice price today August 29: Market fluctuates little

On August 29, the rice market in the Mekong Delta was quiet, transactions were sparse, domestic prices were stable, and rice exports continued to move sideways.

On the morning of August 29, the rice market in the Mekong Delta recorded sparse transactions and stable prices. The amount of goods arriving at warehouses was low, the price of domestic rice products was relatively stable, while rice exports remained unchanged compared to yesterday.

Rice prices remain stable

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the price of fresh rice today remains stable: OM 18 fluctuates between 6,000 and 6,200 VND/kg; IR 50404 is around 5,700 and 5,900 VND/kg; OM 5451 is at 5,900 and 6,000 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 is around 6,100 and 6,200 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 remains at 6,000 and 6,200 VND/kg; OM 308 is at 5,700 and 5,900 VND/kg.

In many localities, transactions were quite sparse. In An Giang , farmers offered stable prices but few traders asked to buy. In Can Tho and Dong Thap, the situation was similar, with transactions at a standstill. Ca Mau and Tay Ninh also recorded weak demand, with prices unchanged compared to the end of last week.

Price of raw rice and finished products

The price of raw rice for export today remained almost unchanged. In An Giang, CL 555 and OM 5451 rice fluctuated between 7,500 and 7,700 VND/kg; IR 504 reached 8,500 and 8,600 VND/kg; OM 380 remained at 8,200 and 8,300 VND/kg; OM 18 fluctuated between 9,600 and 9,700 VND/kg.

For finished rice, OM 380 is traded at 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg, while IR 504 remains at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg. Some warehouses in Dong Thap such as Lap Vo and Sa Dec reported low rice arrivals, traders asked to buy in small quantities, prices generally remained stable.

By-product market

Prices of by-products remained at 7,200 - 9,000 VND/kg. OM 5451 broken rice fluctuated at 7,200 - 7,300 VND/kg, bran remained at 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg. Warehouses in An Cu (Dong Thap) reported slow transactions, some places even temporarily stopped buying, causing prices to tend to decrease slightly.

Retail rice price

At retail markets, the prices of all types of rice remained the same as yesterday. Nang Nhen rice remained at the highest level of VND28,000/kg, Huong Lai at VND22,000/kg. Regular rice was commonly priced at VND13,000-14,000/kg. Fragrant rice such as Jasmine fluctuated at VND16,000-18,000/kg, Nang Hoa at VND21,000/kg, Taiwan at VND20,000/kg. In addition, Soc rice was usually priced at VND16,000-17,000/kg, Soc Thai at VND20,000/kg and Japanese rice at about VND22,000/kg.

Export rice prices remain stable

According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), export rice prices today remain stable. 5% broken fragrant rice is offered at 455-460 USD/ton, 25% broken rice remains at 367 USD/ton, while 100% broken rice fluctuates at 333-337 USD/ton. Compared to the beginning of the week, these prices have not changed, showing that the export market is still in a sideways phase.
