Domestic rice prices today August 26
On August 26, raw rice prices in the Mekong Delta decreased slightly. OM 5451 decreased by 300 VND/kg to 8,000 - 8,100 VND/kg, CL 555 decreased by 250 VND/kg to 8,000 - 8,100 VND/kg. Other types such as OM 380, OM 18, and high-quality OM 5451 remained stable at around 8,200 - 9,700 VND/kg.
At the traditional market, retail rice prices remained unchanged. Regular rice fluctuated at 13,000 - 14,000 VND/kg, Huong Lai rice at 22,000 VND/kg, Thai fragrant rice at 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg. Nang Nhen rice still led at 28,000 VND/kg.
Fresh rice price today August 26
Fresh rice in many provinces has little change. OM 5451 is at 5,900 - 6,000 VND/kg, OM 18 and Nang Hoa 9 are from 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg, Dai Thom 8 is also around 6,100 - 6,200 VND/kg. IR 50404 fluctuates at 5,700 - 5,800 VND/kg, OM 380 is around 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg.
Farmers in Dong Thap and Can Tho are selling slowly, traders are buying little, prices are stable. In Ca Mau , ST rice prices are stable, other types are unchanged.
Price of sticky rice and by-products today August 26
The glutinous rice market remains stable. Fresh IR 4625 glutinous rice is at 7,300 - 7,500 VND/kg, dried glutinous rice is 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.
By-products fluctuated in opposite directions. Fragrant rice bran decreased by VND100/kg to VND7,300-7,400/kg, while dry bran increased by VND200/kg to VND6,400-6,500/kg. Rice husk remained at VND1,400-1,500/kg.
Export rice price today August 26
In the export market, Vietnamese rice maintained the highest level. 5% broken rice remained at 399 USD/ton, 25% broken rice at 368 USD/ton, 100% broken rice at 335 USD/ton.
Meanwhile, India's 5% broken rice was at $376 per tonne, Pakistan's $355 per tonne and Thailand's $354 per tonne.
India is preparing to release 20 million tonnes of rice from its reserves in September, offering prices ranging from $230 to $300 per tonne. This move is considered a “heavy blow” to the Thai rice industry, causing farmers in this country to lose income as paddy prices have halved compared to last year.
In the first 6 months of 2025, India exported more than 11 million tons of rice, far surpassing Vietnam with 5.2 million tons and Thailand with 3.7 million tons.
