According to ComicBook , Strauss Zelnick - head of Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games - has hinted at when GTA 6 will be released.
In a recent interview with CNBC, Zelnick was asked when the next Grand Theft Auto (GTA) game would be released. Zelnick wouldn’t give an exact number, of course, but he did hint that the game would come out sometime in fiscal year 2025, which falls between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025.
Specifically, Take-Two's CEO said: "... we have a very large and promising pipeline of titles for fiscal year 2025, with great confidence that the company will generate approximately $8 billion in game pre-orders."
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick hints that GTA 6 could launch in fiscal year 2025
This is a pretty solid suggestion considering the direct nature of the question. Furthermore, there is only one game that has the potential to generate $8 billion in pre-order revenue upon release and that is GTA 6. But the most important question right now is when the game will be available to fans within this suggested timeframe.
There are rumors that GTA 6 will be revealed later this year. If this happens, then fall 2024 seems like a reasonable release date. Previously, GTA 5 was released in the fall, around September 2013. Not only that, but Rockstar Games' most recent release, Red Dead Redemption 2, was also released in the fall.
In other words, fall 2024 seems like a pretty reasonable bet. But the developer's aforementioned games have also experienced a number of delays before their official releases, so assuming that happens again, a 2025 release for GTA 6 seems more likely.
For now, all fans have to say about GTA 6 is speculation. While CEO Zelnick has hinted at a release date, he hasn’t fully committed to it. And of course, even if that’s the plan, it’s always changing as the game progresses. Players will have to wait a little longer to experience a game that’s been anticipated for nearly a decade.
