VTV.vn - Mr. Tran Van Lau, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, was appointed by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee for the 2025 - 2030 term.

This morning (October 3), at the 1st Congress of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee Nguyen Thanh Tam announced the Politburo 's decisions on provincial leadership personnel.

At the Congress, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam said that the Politburo decided that Mr. Tran Van Lau, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, would cease to participate in the Party Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee; cease to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term and related positions according to the structure.

Mr. Tran Van Lau was mobilized and appointed by the Politburo to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee for the 2025 - 2030 term and appointed to join the Party Committee of Military Region 9.

The Politburo also appointed the new Deputy Secretaries of the Provincial Party Committee, including: Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Minh Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Lu Quang Ngoi, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Le Van Han, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Mr. Lam Minh Dang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Mr. Kim Ngoc Thai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.

The Executive Committee of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, has 83 members; the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee consists of 24 people.

Mr. Tran Van Lau was born in 1970, hometown Hoa Tu 1 commune, My Xuyen district, Soc Trang province (old), now Hoa Tu commune, Can Tho city. Professional qualifications: Master of Party building and state administration; Bachelor of political science, major in social management. Advanced level of political theory.

From February 1985 to January 1990, Mr. Tran Van Lau was a student at the Military Region 9 Cadet School; a student at the Engineering Officer School, majoring in construction engineering command.

From February 1990 to October 2020, he was successively promoted from professional lieutenant to colonel and held the following positions: Platoon Leader of Phu Loi Battalion, Soc Trang Provincial Military Command; Political Commissar of Long Phu District Military Command, Deputy Political Commissar, Political Commissar of Soc Trang Provincial Military Command; Colonel, Commander of Soc Trang Provincial Military Command, Member of the Standing Committee of Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee, term 2015 - 2020.

Since November 2020, he has held the position of Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 2020 - 2025 term, Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province for the 2016 - 2021 term, 2021 - 2026 term.

On June 30, Mr. Tran Van Lau was appointed to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, term 2021 - 2026.
