Launching a campaign to support the Cuban people

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On the morning of August 13, the national launching ceremony of the Program to support the Cuban people with the theme "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship" was held in Hanoi, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Cuba diplomatic relations (1960-2025) and the implementation of activities in the "Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year 2025".

The program is organized by the Vietnam Red Cross in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Central Youth Union, the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry, the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association, Vietnam Television, the Voice of Vietnam , Vietnam News Agency, and Nhan Dan Newspaper.

Attending the launching ceremony were comrades Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Central organizations, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense ; Tran Thanh Lam, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission; representatives of leaders of agencies of the National Assembly, central committees, ministries, branches, associations and organizations; representatives of international organizations in Vietnam.

The launching ceremony was connected from the bridge point of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Party Committee Headquarters, Central organizations (Hanoi City) to 33 bridge points of provinces and cities. Attending the Thanh Hoa bridge point were representatives of departments, agencies, units, unions and localities in the province.

In his opening speech and launching the Program, Comrade Nguyen Hai Anh, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRC), affirmed that the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba has always been preserved and nurtured by generations of leaders of the Party, State and People of the two countries, and has increasingly developed strongly, "bearing fruit" in all fields. The relationship between the two countries has become a model of international solidarity, an immortal and rare symbol in the history of international relations.

65 years ago, in 1960, when Vietnam was in the arduous war of resistance against the US to save the country, Cuba was the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. In the "land of fire" Quang Tri, leader Fidel Castro once again affirmed the immortal statement "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its blood!".

In 2025, the two countries will organize the “Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year”, commemorating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1960-2025). Within the framework of the friendship year, the Program to support the Cuban people was implemented to mobilize resources to support the Cuban people in medical supplies, necessities and areas of sustainable development cooperation, contributing to helping the Cuban people overcome difficulties caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters and blockade and embargo policies.

With the message "Vietnam - Cuba: Forever side by side in challenges - Sharing in hardships" and "Always have Vietnam", the Vietnam Red Cross Association calls on the leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, departments, ministries, branches, socio-political organizations, unions, provinces, cities, agencies, units, enterprises, all cadres, civil servants, public employees, officers, soldiers, workers, students, and compatriots at home and abroad to actively respond to and support the Program, contributing to further beautifying the image of a loyal, affectionate, steadfast, sharing and compassionate Vietnam.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Comrade Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central organizations, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, affirmed that this is an event of profound political, social and foreign affairs significance on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba; demonstrating the consistent spirit of the Party, State and People of Vietnam with Cuba on the path of national independence and socialism.

The program to support the Cuban people not only aims at providing material support but also strongly spreads the message of sharing, sympathy and international solidarity, affirming that in any circumstances, the Vietnamese people will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the Cuban people.

The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front hopes that the Red Cross Association will call on all levels, sectors, business communities, individuals at home and abroad, and all walks of life of the Vietnamese people to provide material and spiritual support to the Cuban people through practical actions, helping the friendly country stabilize its life and continue to develop the country.
