Developing renewable energy, reducing production costs

(QNgTV)- To reduce dependence on the traditional power grid, help save costs and contribute to environmental protection, many businesses in Quang Ngai province have proactively invested in equipment systems to utilize and promote renewable energy sources for production.

At the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Production Complex, the enterprise has invested in modern equipment to help fully utilize all excess heat and gas generated during the iron and steel smelting process to generate electricity.

In just the past half year, the electricity generation output of the Thermal Power Plant of the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Production Complex reached 1.45 billion kWh, helping to proactively meet over 90% of the electricity demand for production of the entire complex.

Switching from using traditional energy to using renewable energy sources is also the direction chosen by Viet Hung Packaging Production and Trading Joint Stock Company (Quang Phu Industrial Park) in the process of implementing green transformation in production. In early 2025, the company deployed the installation of a 705KWp self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power project. It is expected that when put into stable operation, the project will provide more than 1 million kWh of electricity per year, meeting the company's internal consumption needs and contributing to reducing at least 400 tons of CO2 emissions into the environment.

According to statistics from the Department of Industry and Trade, in the province, there are more than 10 enterprises that have registered to develop self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power sources such as Whitex Textiles Industries Co., Ltd., Textile Construction Co., Ltd. (VSIP Quang Ngai Industrial Park); Hung Phong Agricultural Products Processing Trading and Service Co., Ltd., Quang Phu Industrial Park.... These enterprises have invested in installing solar power systems on warehouse roofs, factory roofs, and office roofs, with a capacity of over 300 - 2500 kWh.

Using renewable energy helps businesses reduce production costs, thereby reducing product prices, improving competitiveness and contributing to environmental protection.
