At the ceremony, the ward organized a birthday celebration for 100 elderly people (70, 75, 80, 85 and 95 years old), representing nearly 1,000 elderly people in the area; those who were not able to attend were celebrated at their homes. Currently, Hoa Hung ward has more than 16,600 elderly people, accounting for 17.3% of the population.

Speaking at the event, Chairwoman of the Ward People's Committee Le Thi Ngoc Hien emphasized that the elderly always play an important role in the family and society; are a spiritual support, a shining example in building a cultural life, maintaining security and order at the grassroots level. The Month of Action for the Elderly is an opportunity to mobilize resources for care, especially prioritizing support for the elderly in near-poor households and those in difficult circumstances.

During the festival, hospitals, medical centers and many philanthropists organized health check-ups, consultations, and free medicine for 500 people; donated 60 removable dentures, 5 eye surgeries, cervical cancer screening machines and hundreds of gifts to the elderly and poor households. The total cost of care at the festival was more than 1.1 billion VND.

There are also artistic performances, reproductive health counseling, free pre-marital examinations, creating a joyful atmosphere and connecting the community.
