The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has just signed and issued Document No. 3701/UBND-CNXD dated September 9, 2024 focusing on directing the repair of the collapse and drift of Phong Chau bridge and responding to floods and landslides in the province.

Regarding the collapse of Phong Chau bridge span, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Military Command, Provincial Police, Department of Transport, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Health and People's Committees of Tam Nong and Lam Thao districts to continue directing the mobilization of forces and means to rescue people, search for missing people; treat injured people; visit, encourage and support families of victims and take necessary measures to respond to and overcome the incident. Arrange forces to guard, put up signs, fences and guardrails to warn of dangerous areas, strictly prohibit people and vehicles from traveling, direct traffic and ensure security and order in the area.

People's Committees of districts, cities, towns, State-owned One Member Limited Liability Companies for exploiting irrigation works and relevant agencies, units and units must absolutely not be subjective, negligent or lose vigilance; closely monitor weather and natural disaster developments, proactively deploy solutions to ensure the safety of life and property for people and the state.

At the same time, immediately deploy forces to thoroughly check residential areas along rivers, streams, low-lying areas, and areas at high risk of flooding, flash floods, and landslides; based on the actual situation (especially flood levels on large rivers and streams), organize the relocation and evacuation of people and property to safe places; resolutely not let people stay in dangerous areas. Do not let any people lack shelter, hunger, or other essential items; do not let epidemics or serious environmental pollution occur after heavy rains and floods.

The Department of Transport will closely coordinate with the functional agencies of the Ministry of Transport , Military Region 2 and relevant agencies to soon research and deploy the installation of pontoon bridges to ensure temporary traffic to serve the travel of the people. At the same time, coordinate with the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns to urgently review weak bridges in the province, propose plans to ensure safety (traffic diversion, limit load, traffic volume during peak times...). In the immediate future, all vehicles will be banned from traveling through Trung Ha Bridge on National Highway 32 during the period of high flood water.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development shall preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Police and relevant agencies and units to continue to strictly carry out the work of on-duty, monitor weather and natural disaster developments and synthesize and report according to regulations; promptly inform and warn of natural disasters to localities and people for proactive prevention; propose and report to the Provincial People's Committee to direct and resolve arising situations.
