11 police and military schools have announced their enrollment targets for 2024, many of which have increased their quotas, ranging from 20 to 91 compared to last year.
By early March, six police schools and five military schools had announced university enrollment targets.
Regarding the public security sector, the number of new recruits at the Fire Prevention and Fighting University and the People's Public Security University of Technology and Logistics increased by 40 compared to last year, to 140; the People's Security Academy increased by 20. Meanwhile, the People's Security University, the People's Police Academy and the People's Public Security Political Academy kept their quotas unchanged.
Police schools reserve 10% of their total enrollment quota for female candidates, similar to last year. Therefore, the increase in total enrollment quota means that the number of female candidates admitted to these schools will also increase.
Admission quotas for police schools in 2024 are as follows:
TT | School | Indicators | ||
Male | Female | Total | ||
1 | People's Security Academy | 369 | 41 | 410 |

Police schools have not yet informed about the admission methods but are expected to maintain three stable methods: direct admission, priority admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the regulations of the Ministry of Public Security ; admission of candidates with international foreign language certificates; and combined consideration of high school graduation exam scores with the Ministry of Public Security's capacity assessment test scores.
Last year, the benchmark scores for police schools ranged from 14.01 to 24.94. The Party Building and State Administration major of the People's Public Security Academy had the highest benchmark score. Female candidates in the North applying for this major had to score 24.94 points.
The formula for calculating university admission scores of the Ministry of Public Security is as follows:
Admission score = Total score of three graduation exams *2/5 + Assessment test score *3/5 + Priority points according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training + Bonus points for national excellent students.

This year, the military school sector added two more admission methods, including considering the capacity assessment test scores of two national universities and considering academic records, in addition to the old methods of direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, and admission of excellent students according to regulations of the Ministry of National Defense, based on high school graduation exam scores.
Regarding the assessment of competency test scores, schools reserve about 20% of the quota. Regarding the consideration of academic records, except for the Military Technical Academy and the Military Medical Academy, the remaining schools will reserve about 10% of the quota. Candidates need to have a total score of 7 or higher in each year of high school, and the subjects in the admission combination must have a minimum score of 7.5.
Currently, the military group consists of 17 schools. In 2023, these schools will enroll nearly 4,400 students. The benchmark score based on the graduation exam results ranges from 16.25 to 27.97. The Military Science Academy has the highest benchmark score. Female candidates applying for the Chinese Language major must achieve a total of 27.97 points in three high school graduation exam subjects to be admitted.
