Hot at the border and inland
In the first 7 months of the year, the border was a hot spot for smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods (BL-GLTM-HG). Subjects took advantage of temporary import, re-export, transit, and trade policies at border gates to collude to transport and illegally trade drugs and forest products in large quantities.
For example, on May 26, at the Nam Giang International Border Gate, authorities caught three Lao nationals illegally transporting nearly 196kg of drugs from Laos to Vietnam for consumption. The seized evidence included one car, 44 cakes of heroin, methamphetamine, ketamine, synthetic drugs...
On May 31, the Commander of the Provincial Border Guard issued a decision to prosecute the case, conduct an initial investigation and complete the case file to hand over the case to the Provincial Police Investigation Agency for further handling in accordance with the law.
On April 29, the Economic Police Department - Provincial Police discovered 5 vehicles transporting wood through Thanh My town (Nam Giang) with signs of violations.
Through the investigation, the authorities determined that more than 240m3 of sassafras wood was smuggled by a business, violating customs declaration when importing goods, so they were seized and handled.
Meanwhile, according to Colonel Doan Ngoc Triet - Deputy Commander of Law of Coast Guard Region 2, on the sea route and seaport, the drug crime situation is complicated, with the emergence of many large-scale drug rings operating inter-provincially, with foreign elements.
The authorities have closely coordinated with agencies and localities to strictly manage the area, fight, prevent and handle according to legal regulations.
Mr. Luong Viet Tinh - Director of the Quang Nam Market Management Department said that violations of the law on production and trade of counterfeit goods; goods infringing intellectual property rights; goods violating trademarks; trading in expired goods, goods of unknown origin; and trading in smuggled goods occur in all domestic areas.
BL-GLTM-HG occurs in all fields and products such as clothing, footwear, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, cakes, candies, cigarettes, firecrackers, forest products, and sugar in most of the key inland areas of the province. Violations detected and arrested are mainly concentrated in Hoi An, Thang Binh, Duy Xuyen, Dien Ban, and Nui Thanh.
Strict handling to stabilize the market
Recently, Steering Committee 389 Quang Nam held a conference to review the work of combating domestic violence and human trafficking in the first 7 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last months of the year.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Thai Binh , Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, said that in the last months of the year, the economy will continue to recover and develop positively. Subjects will increase their activities of smuggling, illegal trade and transportation of prohibited goods on border routes, border gates, seaports, sea areas and inland areas.
“Taking advantage of e-commerce activities, social networking sites, and express delivery, these subjects will increase the above activities with new methods and tricks.
In the last months of the year, the forces need to fight against illegal trade and counterfeiting more effectively to clean up the business environment, promote sustainable trade development, and contribute to ensuring security, order, and social safety," said Phan Thai Binh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
Mr. Phan Thai Binh assigned the task to market management forces, police, border guards, coast guard, tax, customs, etc. to urgently develop programs and plans, and apply synchronous solutions to combat illegal trade and counterfeiting in accordance with developments in the area.
The Provincial Market Management Department - the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 presides over and coordinates with branches, agencies and units to advise the People's Committee on implementing the project to combat counterfeit goods and protect consumers in e-commerce until 2025.
Authorities should improve the quality of investigation and crime handling and diversify forms of propaganda against BL-GLTM-HG, mobilizing people from all walks of life to join the front...
Mr. Tran Van Hieu - Deputy Head of Price and Public Assets Department (Department of Finance) said that the Department of Finance did not participate in the council to re-evaluate confiscated property from BL-GLTM-HG in the case of two unsuccessful auctions based on Clause 2, Article 8 of Circular 144 of the Ministry of Finance and nominated the financial department of the Provincial Market Management Department to participate.
Regarding this, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Phan Thai Binh, assigned the task to the Department of Finance. Because the participation of the Department of Finance is to ensure objectivity, transparency; expertise and continuity when the Department of Finance has participated in the first valuation.
