(QNgTV)- Quang Ngai aims to develop medicinal herbs into a spearhead economic sector, focusing on Ngoc Linh ginseng and endemic plants, towards the national medicinal herbs key region.

Quang Ngai currently has 853 rare medicinal plant species, of which 30 species are in high demand in the market and about 25 species have been widely grown and used with high economic value. Notable are Codonopsis pilosula, Angelica sinensis, Schisandra chinensis, especially Ngoc Linh ginseng - an endemic species with outstanding value compared to other types of ginseng.

The province has determined that in the 2025-2030 term, it will prioritize the development of organic agriculture associated with building regional specialty brands, with medicinal herbs as the spearhead. The focus is on Ngoc Linh ginseng and endemic medicinal herbs to increase economic value and affirm local brands.

The province's goal is to develop Quang Ngai into one of the country's key medicinal areas, contributing to the supply of raw materials for the domestic pharmaceutical industry and for export. This is not only a direction suitable for natural conditions but also opens up opportunities for sustainable economic development for the Western Quang Ngai region, where most of the ethnic minorities live.
