Quang Tri continues to consider plans to adjust the Southeast Economic Zone planning.

According to the Management Board of Quang Tri Economic Zone, the project to adjust the general construction planning of the Southeast Economic Zone will focus on rearranging large subdivisions with an open and flexible orientation.

Overall adjustment of Quang Tri Power and Energy Center; development of offshore wind power according to the marine economic strategy. Formation of a complex for production, landing, storage and processing of energy products; research on technology, and large-scale, regional energy transfer.

Arrange a chain of logistics service areas to exploit the advantages of geographical location and traffic in the Southeast Economic Zone, diversifying types of logistics such as seaports, airports, river ports, and industry. Redefine rural development areas, connecting with mixed-function areas along the main traffic axis; orient the development of highly adaptable rural agricultural areas.

According to the proposal of the consulting unit, the plan to adjust the boundary of the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone has a total additional area of 2,350 hectares located in the communes of Hai Lang and Gio Linh districts, equivalent to 9.88% of the established Southeast Economic Zone area (23,792 hectares), lower than the regulation of 10% according to Clause 1, Article 18 of Decree No. 35/2022/ND-CP of the Government regulating the management of industrial parks and economic zones.

Of which, adding a sea surface area of about 730 hectares (Hai An commune, Hai Lang district) at My Thuy port area; adding a land area of about 1,620 hectares, including the area along National Highway 15D and the area west of Quang Tri Industrial Park.

At the meeting, representatives of departments, branches, sectors and localities gave opinions on issues related to the expansion of residential areas; construction planning along National Highway 15D; and proposed to add the sea boundary area in the adjustment plan.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien emphasized that the completion of the Project to adjust the general construction planning and the Project to adjust the boundary of the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone is very important in ensuring the progress of implementing key projects in the province.

Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien requested the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board to draft two documents on adjusting the master plan and adjusting the boundary of the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone and send them to the Provincial People's Committee to issue to relevant departments, branches and sectors to participate in giving opinions on professional contents to unify the plan as soon as possible; in which, priority should be given to solving housing issues for people in the planning area and focusing on planning for industrial parks, aviation services and logistics to speed up the construction progress of the province's key projects.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province requested relevant agencies and units to carry out two tasks in parallel: the procedures for the Project to adjust the general construction planning and the Adjustment of the boundary of the Southeast Economic Zone. Thoroughly grasp the principle of not developing a detailed plan but basing it on the general plan to easily implement the zoning plan later. At the same time, it is noted that in the process of adjusting the general construction planning and adjusting the boundary of the Southeast Economic Zone, it must be ensured that it does not affect the residential land of the people.
