Today, June 3, the People's Committee of Dakrong district, Quang Tri province organized a launching ceremony to launch a peak campaign to attack and suppress crime and drug abuse, responding to the Action Month against Drugs in 2024.

Dakrong is a mountainous border area with many potential risks of complex crimes and drug abuse. Recently, the authorities have discovered and arrested many cases of illegal drug trafficking, storage, and transportation with a large amount of evidence.

Implementing the Provincial People's Committee's Plan on implementing the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control in 2024, Dakrong District Police presided over and coordinated with staff units to organize a high-point launching ceremony to attack and suppress drug crimes and social evils to promote propaganda, create a campaign on drug prevention and control across the district, create a strong change in awareness, responsibility and action of the entire political system and all classes of people in drug prevention and control, contributing to the successful implementation of the set goals and tasks.

Accordingly, the peak period of attacking and suppressing drug crimes and social evils in Dakrong district will be deployed from June 1 to 30, 2024, with the following contents: Continuing to effectively implement Directive No. 36-CT/TW dated August 16, 2019 of the Politburo on strengthening and improving the effectiveness of drug crime prevention and control; promoting propaganda, focusing on propaganda, dissemination and education of policies and laws on drug prevention and control, consequences and harmful effects of drugs on mass media.

Continue to build, maintain and replicate advanced models and typical examples of drug prevention at the grassroots level, focusing on the "3 management" model, "Youth shock group to propagate the law at the grassroots level"; organize propaganda and education activities on drug prevention in communes, towns, agencies, units, schools...; do a good job of managing addicts, illegal drug users and treating addiction; promote identification of drug addiction status and drug rehabilitation...

Immediately after the launching ceremony, a large number of police, military, civil defense, youth union members and students marched along main roads and densely populated areas to raise public awareness of the harmful effects of drugs on individuals and society.
