Composing a song to evoke the loyal and close relationship between Vietnam and Cuba

On August 22, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations ( Hanoi ), a press meeting and the launching of a songwriting contest with the theme Vietnam - Cuba: Forever resounding song of friendship took place.

The press conference was chaired by: Associate Professor, Dr. Musician Do Hong Quan - President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations ; Major General Nguyen Duc Trinh - President of the Vietnam Musicians Association; writer and journalist Hoang Du - Editor-in-Chief of the Literature and Arts Times.

Speaking at the press conference, writer and journalist Hoang Du said the contest was organized to respond to the 65-year Vietnam-Cuba friendship program launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee , taking place in 65 days (August 13 - October 16, 2025) to mobilize resources to support the Cuban people.

"The songwriting campaign is a humanitarian artistic activity, aiming to arouse the feelings of loyalty, attachment, and gratitude for the noble acts that Cuba has done for Vietnam. This is also an opportunity for musicians, artists, and music lovers to express their feelings of international solidarity through melodies and lyrics," Mr. Hoang Du emphasized.

Associate Professor, Doctor of Musician Do Hong Quan believes that, in addition to material support, art is a priceless treasure that contributes to fostering the solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba. He called on musicians and artists to join hands to compose at least 65 typical songs, thereby building a special music program, creating a lasting impression.

Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes expressed his emotion at the sentiments of Vietnamese artists: "Music has no borders and this initiative helps to convey the special relationship between our two peoples vividly and deeply. This is not only an artistic activity but also a great spiritual support for the Cuban people."

The Vietnam - Cuba songwriting contest: Forever the song of friendship is open to all Vietnamese citizens, overseas Vietnamese as well as foreigners living in Vietnam, regardless of age or profession.

Contest entries: Songs of any genre or musical style that are legally circulated in Vietnam; have never been popularized, and have not won any other competitions. The author is responsible for copyright. If any violation is found, the Organizing Committee will cancel the award and make it public.

The awards include First, Second, Third and Encouragement prizes. Outstanding works will be staged and performed at the closing ceremony. Time for receiving works: From August 22 to October 10, 2025.
