On the morning of September 16, Comrade Le Anh Quan, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee chaired a reception for a working delegation from the Singapore Embassy in Vietnam and officials from the Singaporean Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei, led by Mr. Donald Tsang, Deputy Ambassador of Singapore to Vietnam, who visited and worked in Hai Phong.
Welcoming the delegation to visit and work in Hai Phong, comrade Le Anh Quan, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, informed the delegation about the basic features of Hai Phong's socio -economic development achievements, geographical advantages, traffic system and transparent administrative procedures, contributing to creating an attractive investment environment, promoting Hai Phong's rapid and sustainable development.
The city currently has more than 1,700 foreign investment projects from more than 40 countries and territories, with a total registered capital of more than 50 billion USD. In the first 8 months of 2025 alone, the city attracted 1.9 billion USD. Hai Phong has been approved by the Government to establish a coastal economic zone in the South of Hai Phong with an area of about 20,000 hectares. This is a comprehensive coastal economic zone following the model of green growth, circular economy, sustainable development, including a free trade zone with breakthrough and outstanding mechanisms and policies.
Expressing his delight at the increasingly in-depth Vietnam-Singapore comprehensive strategic partnership and creating practical benefits for the people and businesses of the two countries, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Anh Quan emphasized that, with many similar characteristics, the cooperation between Hai Phong and Singapore's partners has achieved many important results in recent times. As of September 2025, Singapore had 1,434 projects in Hai Phong with a total investment capital of nearly 11 billion USD, ranking second in terms of capital among countries and territories investing in Hai Phong. These projects have made many positive contributions to the overall development of the city.
He hoped that after the visit and work, the delegation would gain more valuable experiences, better understand the development potential as well as cooperation opportunities in Hai Phong, thereby promoting the close cooperation between the two sides, contributing to fostering friendship and common development in the future.
Thanking the city leaders for their warm welcome, Mr. Donald Tsang, Deputy Ambassador of Singapore to Vietnam, said that with many potentials and advantages, Hai Phong is a safe and effective investment destination for foreign investors, including investors from Singapore. In the coming time, Singapore will continue to further strengthen investment cooperation in Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular. In the strategy of expanding the VSIP industrial park network in many provinces and cities of Vietnam, VSIP Hai Phong industrial park will be the center.
Appreciating the efforts of the local government in inviting, attracting and supporting FDI investors to cooperate and do business in Hai Phong, the Deputy Ambassador expressed his belief that in the coming time, there will be more Singaporean enterprises and partners coming to seek opportunities and expand investment in the city to further promote cooperation between the two sides in many fields.
