The China Rice Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Zhongyuan Research Center have jointly promoted the new super rice variety “Jiaheyou No. 5” to boost grain output and farmers' income.

According to VNA, “Gia Hoa Uu No. 5” was selected by the Rice Research Center, a cross between rice and glutinous rice. “Gia Hoa Uu No. 5” has well-developed stems, beautiful leaves, super high yield, superior rice quality, and the characteristic flavor and aroma of rice.

The above rice variety has been tested in Xinyang City, Henan Province and achieved positive results, contributing to promoting the improvement of the rice processing industry in southern Henan.

In the coming time, the China Rice Research Institute and the Central Highlands Research Center will continue to research and evaluate the expansion of trial planting scale, strengthen training and technology transfer, and help farmers grasp key techniques to improve crop efficiency.

Rice is one of the most important foods for the Chinese people. Over the past five decades, the area of hybrid rice research and development in China has increased to more than 600 million hectares, helping to increase the total rice production to more than 800 million tons/year. Currently, the average yield per 0.067ha of hybrid rice per crop in China is at the average yield per 0.067ha of hybrid rice per crop.
