According to the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Education and Training), during the official visit to Vietnam of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, on the morning of August 28, in the presence of the Prime Ministers of the two countries, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son and Singaporean Minister of Education Chan Chun Sing signed a Memorandum of Understanding on educational cooperation.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and the Singapore Ministry of Education focuses on enhancing cooperation between schools of the two countries within the framework of the School Twinning Programme and other educational institution linkages, to encourage student and teacher exchanges.
Facilitate student participation in internship programs in both countries. Exchange information and lessons learned in areas of mutual interest, with a special focus on professional development for teachers. At the same time, strive to promote and provide scholarship opportunities for students and other areas of educational cooperation of mutual interest.
The signed Memorandum of Understanding will further strengthen the good relationship between the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and the Singapore Ministry of Education.
According to the Department of International Cooperation, educational cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore has become increasingly close and effective over the years. In 2023, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Singapore, the Ministry of Education and Training coordinated with the Singaporean Ministry of Education to organize an online meeting of the Vietnam-Singapore joint working group in the field of education and training on June 8. The meeting was co-chaired by the Deputy Minister of Education and Training and the Deputy Minister of Education of Singapore.
"At the meeting, Singapore also announced that it will increase scholarships for outstanding Vietnamese high school students to study at Singapore's top high schools. It is expected that the number of scholarships could double compared to previous years," said the Department of International Cooperation.
In addition, the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and the Singaporean Ministry of Education also coordinate very closely at regional and multilateral forums, including ASEAN education cooperation and cooperation within the framework of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Council (SEAMEO).
