Students raise funds to support people

This is an activity to join hands in providing clean water and helping people cope with the peak of severe drought and salinity in the southwestern provinces.

The funding is raised by students from the Alumni Business Association and partly from the school's union fee fund.

Student Le Minh Vu (Faculty of Law) shared: "This is the first time I went to the field and witnessed the serious lack of clean water for the people. We supported the transportation of water to the people from 9am to afternoon. We helped people get water into tanks and put it on motorbikes. For those who did not have a vehicle, we would help bring water to their homes.

Although the weather was scorching hot at noon, seeing the joy of the people, we were very touched. Knowing that people had to buy fresh water at the price of 100,000 - 120,000 VND/ ^m3 , I felt that my work was even more meaningful.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Luan - Deputy Secretary of Tien Giang Provincial Youth Union - said that because Tan Phu Dong district (Tien Giang province) is adjacent to the sea, the drought and salinity situation was urgently declared.

"The students came to provide fresh water to the people of Phu Dong and Phu Tan communes of Tan Phu Dong district. To get to this commune, they had to cross the ferry, the water transport vehicle could only carry a small amount, divided into many batches.

After contacting the local authorities to inquire about the situation, the school and students immediately went down to support the people. I saw that they participated enthusiastically, bringing water home to the people."

People are happy

Nguyen Khuong Tuyen (a student of finance and commerce) said: "When I brought water to the house, I saw the joy in the eyes of the people. We do not regulate the amount of water people can get, whoever brings a bucket will be filled with fresh water to take home."

Mr. Tran Van Tam shared: "I am really happy, I thank the students very much for providing us with water in time at this time."

Dr. Huynh Ngoc Anh - Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - shared: "We want to accompany the community through people's difficulties.

Besides, these activities also help students understand the difficulties of the people to share and become more mature. Hopefully, departments, organizations and businesses will join hands so that more households can share."

An additional 400m³ for people in 3 communes of Ben Tre province

It is expected that on March 17, HUTECH Institute of Applied Sciences and Alumni Business Association will continue the journey of "carrying fresh water" to Giong Trom district, Ben Tre province with 400m³ of water for people in Phuoc Long, Thuan Dien and Chau Binh communes.
