Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên26/06/2024

Welcoming the student delegation, Mr. Kevin Moore, CEO of VWS, introduced the establishment process and waste treatment process at Da Phuoc Waste Treatment Complex (Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) such as the leachate treatment plant, the plant to collect and generate electricity from landfill gas, the recycling plant...

Currently, every day the Da Phuoc Waste Treatment Complex receives and processes about 6,000 tons of waste for Ho Chi Minh City using American sanitary landfill technology. The amount of waste VWS processes every day accounts for about 70% of the total waste of Ho Chi Minh City. An important part of VWS's waste treatment is recycling waste into products such as compost, electricity generation, etc.

Lecturer Phan Thanh Thuan, Environmental Engineering, Can Tho University, said the purpose of the VWS visit was to help students have a more practical and thorough view of the works and processes of wastewater treatment, water supply, solid waste, leachate, etc. serving the field of study and in the near future, students will research specialized knowledge.

"Over the years, Can Tho University has cooperated with VWS many times to help students learn and experience; at least each course, students will visit VWS once. In my opinion, VWS is really modern, although this is a waste and garbage treatment company, with high technology they have very good control of odors and waste treatment processes," said this lecturer.

After the visit, Tran Nguyen Phuong Thuy, a second-year student majoring in environmental engineering, shared that she felt very happy to visit VWS. There was a lot of new knowledge for her to learn because this visit was part of the internship program of her major.

"When I came to VWS, I felt like I learned and understood more about many new pieces of knowledge that serve my major very well. VWS is truly an ideal destination for students, with many interesting and fun things. I hope I will be able to come back here many more times, apply the knowledge I have directly acquired to my major, and help protect the environment," Phuong Thuy shared.

"VWS always respects and welcomes young people from primary, secondary, high school students to university students from Vietnam and abroad, youth union members, and units to visit, study, experience reality, and learn about the waste treatment process. Through that, we hope that the VWS model will be replicated, and people will have a more thorough view of environmental protection, especially students," said Ms. Phuong.
