The province has focused on environmental protection and construction work. Thanks to good practices and the efforts of local propaganda and mobilization, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu's family (residing in Tan Tru commune) has a better understanding of their role and responsibility for the living environment. He actively participates with the locality in activities to build and protect the environment for a green, clean and beautiful life. During the rice cultivation process, the family limits the use of pesticides and, together with surrounding households, collects packaging and bottles in the collection pit - previously built by the locality.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, every day, each person only needs to perform small actions such as: cleaning, sanitation of the environment, collecting garbage in the right place, participating in models launched by the locality,... to be able to bring many benefits to the living environment. "We work together to build and spread practical actions so that everyone can join in implementing, towards a green, environmentally friendly life" - Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu said.

In the field of production and business activities, enterprises also pay attention to environmental protection. Complying with policies and laws on environmental protection, enterprises also accompany localities in related activities, gradually bringing environmental protection work in the area into practice and becoming more and more systematic.

With an area of over 524 hectares, in addition to focusing on production and business, Huu Thanh Industrial Park (Duc Hoa commune) identifies environmental protection as a key task, closely linked to sustainable development.

Huu Thanh Industrial Park has completed all legal procedures, issued environmental protection regulations as well as incident response plans, invested in a centralized wastewater collection and treatment system (with a phase 1 capacity of 4,000m³/day and night, and an incident treatment pond of 8,000m³) to ensure that wastewater always meets column A standards before being discharged outside. The automatic monitoring system is connected in real time with the management agency, and a team of highly qualified environmental engineers directly supervises operations.

At the same time, Huu Thanh Industrial Park focuses on planting trees to create landscapes, increase CO₂ absorption, improve air quality and limit environmental impacts on surrounding areas.

Don't trade the environment for economics

The province's viewpoint is to develop the economy in parallel with environmental protection, not to trade the environment for the economy. Therefore, over the years, the province has implemented many measures and professional solutions to strengthen and improve management work. The Provincial People's Committee issued a list of industries and professions that encourage investment; industries that receive conditional investment; industries that temporarily stop receiving investment; industries that are considered to receive investment outside industrial parks and industrial clusters in the province. This is the basis for gradually receiving investment in a selective direction, ensuring advanced medium technology or higher, contributing to minimizing waste that affects the environment when the project comes into operation, towards green growth and sustainable development of the province;...

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Tan Thuan, in order to harmoniously combine economic development and environmental protection, the Department is proactive in inspecting and strictly managing the discharge of waste by units, strictly handling environmental violations, propagating, raising awareness, changing behavior, and community and business awareness about environmental protection; signing a state management plan in the field of environmental protection with departments, branches, localities, etc. to join hands in implementation.

In addition, the Department of Staff of the Provincial People's Committee has specific decisions and instructions, clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of each department, branch and locality to have close coordination and unity in environmental protection.

The Department also synchronously implements environmental protection solutions, focusing on prioritizing projects related to climate change, perfecting the automatic monitoring system of environmental components, strictly checking the investment attraction process, resolutely not accepting projects with outdated technology, risk of pollution, and thoroughly resolving existing facilities and locations causing environmental pollution.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Tan Thuan emphasized: "With the view that economic development must go hand in hand with environmental protection, in recent years, the province has issued plans and implemented tasks and solutions on state management of the environment and environmental protection activities in the area;... Thanks to that, this work has achieved certain results, gradually becoming routine".

In the coming time, the province will continue to focus on solutions to maintain and enhance the Provincial Green Environment Index (PGI). The Department will advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue an action plan and direct each department, branch, and locality, including people and businesses, to implement synchronous solutions to maintain and enhance PGI; advise on the issuance of a resolution on green growth of the province, associated with production development, while protecting the environment in association with the program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions according to the roadmap to achieve net emissions of "0" by 2050 of the country; the development of a circular economy and the effective use of resources must go hand in hand with environmental protection issues"./.
