The whole province has 1,944 fishing vessels/1,944 fishing vessels with length of 15 meters or more in operation that have installed VMS equipment, reaching 100% (in addition, there is 1 fishing vessel with length under 15 meters operating in the fly trawling profession that has installed VMS equipment updated on the National Fishing Vessel Monitoring System).
The number of fishing vessels that have not installed VMS is 14, including: 13 vessels that have stopped operating due to damage, being on shore, executing judgments, civil disputes and 1 vessel that has been sold outside the province for many years, with no information, the province has reported the fishing vessel missing (in the case of the fishing vessel with registration number BTh-94898-TS, the owner is Nguyen Trung, residing in Phan Ri Cua town, Tuy Phong district, sold to Ba Ria - Vung Tau province more than 5 years ago. The provincial authorities have worked with the vessel owner but could not provide information about the buyer, and do not know the current status of the fishing vessel). The number of vessels lying on shore has been listed by the authorities for close management and monitoring, with specific information about the vessel's anchorage and phone number for contact when necessary.
To facilitate fishermen to install VMS, the Provincial People's Council has issued a Resolution to support fishermen to install fishing vessel monitoring equipment, and has so far provided funding for 1,388 fishing vessels/VND 13,880 million (support level of VND 10 million/device). In addition, the management and operation of the fishing vessel monitoring system has been seriously implemented by the units, processing information promptly and promoting effectiveness in monitoring and preventing fishing vessels from violating foreign waters.
Since the beginning of the year, 32 fishing vessels that crossed the maritime boundary have been detected and called to promptly return to Vietnam's waters, and hundreds of fishing vessels that lost their VMS connection at sea have been warned and reminded. Regarding the handling of 5/4 fishing vessels with a length of 24 meters or more that lost connection for more than 10 days as requested by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development , through review, 1 fishing vessel lost connection at the anchorage port; 2 cases that were not cases of fishing vessels losing connection at sea for more than 10 days (arrived ashore before 10 days); 2 cases of fishing vessels losing connection at sea for more than 10 days have been handled and punished in accordance with regulations (BTh 95059 TS; BTh 97222 TS).
