On the afternoon of September 4, Mr. Tran Ngoc Son, Director of Quang Binh Railway Joint Stock Company, said that immediately after receiving the information, the railway industry mobilized many equipment and dozens of workers to fix the damaged North-South railway, the section passing through Tuyen Hoa commune, Quang Tri province.

The railway was shifted due to rocks rolling down from the mountain, causing the North-South train to stop for many hours.

The North-South railway was blocked because rocks fell from the mountain and caused the tracks to shift.

As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , at around 6:10 am on the same day, 3 large rocks suddenly rolled down from the mountain, hitting the railway section at Km 458+200, near Lac Son station (Tuyen Hoa commune, Quang Tri). The strong impact caused the steel rails to shift, some places to deform, causing traffic disruption.

The railway industry immediately issued an emergency notice, requiring trains to stop at nearby stations to ensure passenger safety. The landslide blocked the North-South railway line for many hours.

According to Mr. Tran Ngoc Son, the incident originated from rocks located on the high mountainside, which are difficult to control by normal observation. Many locations on the mountain top have not been surveyed, so the risk of falling rocks still exists, affecting train safety.

In the immediate future, Quang Binh Railway Company will arrange forces to be on duty at risk points, and at the same time plan to reinforce with steel mesh and stone gabions to limit landslides during the rainy and stormy season.
