Taking advantage of this opportunity, the province is adjusting its planning to maximize its advantages, making Dong Nai a comprehensive and sustainable growth pole of the country.

Large land fund, outstanding development potential

After the merger, the new Dong Nai province not only has a large population but also owns the largest land fund in the Southeast region. With more than 12.7 thousand km², diverse and contiguous land is an outstanding space for the province to develop industry, urban areas, high-tech agriculture , transport infrastructure and services.

Currently, agricultural land accounts for more than 1 million hectares, of which more than 80% of the area can form specialized areas applying high technology, which is the basis for increasing the value of agricultural products. A large and harmoniously distributed non-agricultural land fund is a condition for continuing to develop large-scale industrial zones and clusters, associated with synchronous infrastructure to attract quality foreign investment capital and high-tech industrial projects.

Comrade Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said: Dong Nai is facing the opportunity to become one of the leading economic , industrial and logistics service centers of the country. In the coming time, the province determines that industrial development is still the main driving force. With a strategic location, convenient transportation and 82 industrial parks in the planning, the province still has a lot of room to develop and attract high-tech, clean technology and environmentally friendly industries.

Long Thanh International Airport, Phuoc An Port, border gates and especially the 390km of highway being invested not only facilitate the circulation of goods and travel but also open up opportunities to become a modern logistics center, develop trade and financial services, making Dong Nai a gateway directly connecting the Southeast with countries in the region and the world.

In addition, Dong Nai also owns the largest forestry land fund in the Southern region, including biosphere reserves, national parks, protective forests and mangrove forests. This is the potential for developing forest economy, ecotourism, carbon credits, and is also a "green lung" ensuring ecological balance, linking economic growth with sustainable development.

According to Dr. Tran Du Lich, member of the Government's National Monetary Policy Advisory Council, member of the Dong Nai Province Socio-Economic Advisory Group, after the merger, the province has enough factors for sustainable development. These are large area, large population, airport, seaport, border gate, long-standing industrial development and many roads and railways. In particular, land resources and the resonance from geographical location, key projects are the conditions for the province to become the leading multi-sector, multi-polar development center in the South, playing the role of inter-regional bridge and international gateway.

Dong Nai currently has a natural area of over 12,700 km², of which 84% is agricultural land. This is an important space for the province to develop high-tech agriculture, expand industry, urban areas and services, creating a driving force for sustainable growth.

Adjusting planning to maximize land advantages

Currently, Dong Nai province is adjusting the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 based on the planning foundation of the two old provinces of Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai. This is necessary to reshape growth drivers, restructure development areas as well as identify strategic economic corridors. At the same time, it is necessary to review and readjust the land use structure in a reasonable and effective direction, turning land into a driving force for development, while overcoming the fragmentation and waste of resources.

Comrade Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said: This is the golden time for Dong Nai to adjust its planning. This adjustment is not only a legal requirement but also a strategic opportunity to reposition the development space after the merger.

According to Dr. Tran Du Lich, in the context of new development space opening up, adjusting the planning to take full advantage is extremely necessary. He also noted that in the process of adjusting the planning, the province needs to rely on key pillars such as: developing logistics, services - trade - finance, high-tech industry and supporting industry, large-scale agricultural processing.

In the Political Report of the Provincial Party Executive Committee presented to the 1st Congress of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, planning adjustment is identified as one of the 8 key tasks of the term. Accordingly, focusing on adjusting the Provincial Planning, ensuring consistency and synchronization with the socio-economic development strategy of the whole country and orientation of regional and inter-regional development space. Along with that, establishing and adjusting construction planning, urban planning, underground space planning and specialized planning to remove bottlenecks in infrastructure development, improve land use efficiency, facilitate investment attraction and resource mobilization.

The adjusted planning focuses on 4 key areas to maximize the potential and advantages of industry, logistics, trade, services, tourism, agriculture - forestry and mineral resources: the southern urban - industrial area associated with Long Thanh International Airport, Phuoc An Port and the urban areas of Tran Bien, Long Thanh, Nhon Trach; the northern industrial - urban area associated with Hoa Lu Border Gate Economic Zone, Hoang Dieu Border Gate, the urban areas of Binh Phuoc, Dong Xoai, Chon Thanh, Binh Long; the lakeside economic zone and the western riverside ecological urban economic zone associated with the urban areas of Bien Hoa, Tan Trieu, Long Hung, Dai Phuoc and the high-tech agricultural area, large-scale, modern livestock - green, ecological tourism in the Northeast associated with Bu Gia Map, Phuoc Long, Bu Dang, Ta Lai, Nam Cat Tien.

Comrade Thai Bao, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Committee, said: In order for land to truly become an important resource for socio-economic development, Dong Nai needs to have a strategic visionary plan, linked to reality and implementation capability. At the same time, it is necessary to improve the effectiveness of state management, tighten discipline in land use, ensure publicity and transparency, create consensus among people and businesses; thereby, turn potential into a driving force for comprehensive and sustainable development.
