Temporarily suspend operations at Van Don and Cat Bi international airports

At an emergency meeting to respond to storm No. 3 on the afternoon of July 21, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam decided to temporarily suspend flights at airports in the area affected by storm No. 3 on July 21 and 22.

Specifically, Van Don International Airport and Cat Bi International Airport will temporarily suspend operations from 11 p.m. on July 21 to 12 a.m. on July 22. Noi Bai International Airport and Tho Xuan Airport will continue to monitor meteorological reports and propose appropriate adjustments to their operating plans.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation to concentrate 100% of its human resources and equipment to ensure aviation meteorological forecasting at airports to promptly provide meteorological forecast information on the impact of storms.

In a dispatch issued on the evening of July 21, the Ministry of Construction requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to direct airlines to monitor weather developments and adjust or change flight schedules in areas affected by the storm accordingly to ensure absolute safety of flight operations.

In addition, the Ministry of Construction requires units to strengthen inspections of airports, terminals, communication systems, flight operations and command to promptly detect and handle incidents.
