3 grandfather and grandchildren drowned while bathing in the river

On the evening of June 16, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Duong commune, Binh Son district (Quang Ngai) said that a tragic drowning incident had just occurred in the area, causing the death of 3 grandparents and grandchildren.

According to initial information, at 6:00 p.m. the same day, Mr. Nguyen Duc Buu (69 years old) and his two grandchildren, N.D.M (12 years old) and NHH (8 years old), all from My Hue 1 village, Binh Duong commune, went to Dau river (a branch of Binh Trung commune flowing through Tra Bong river, Binh Son district) to bathe and unfortunately drowned.

Upon receiving the information, local people and authorities rushed to the scene to search for the victims. A few minutes later, the rescue team found M. and H., brought them to shore and took them to the Binh Son District Medical Center (Quang Ngai) for emergency treatment. However, the two children did not survive.

At more than 8:00 p.m., the authorities discovered Mr. Buu's body and then handed it over to his family for funeral arrangements.

"Currently, the local authorities have visited, encouraged and worked with the families to organize funerals for the victims. The cause of the incident is being investigated by the authorities," Mr. Vu added.
