Strengthening cooperation in the field of telecommunications between Vietnam and China

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on promoting development cooperation in the field of telecommunications between Vietnam and China.

In December 2023, during the official visit to Vietnam of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of digital media.

Overview of the working session

Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long said that in recent times, the General Department of Radio and Television and the Ministry of Information and Communications have had many cooperative activities. This visit of the General Department will deepen the relationship between the two sides and open up new development space.

The Deputy Minister also took time to share information about the Vietnamese vocational training sector and state management activities in vocational training.

Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long discussed with the delegation of the General Department of Radio and Television of China

2025 will mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China. Therefore, Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long requested the General Department of Radio and Television to provide a specific plan to produce television and film works reflecting the friendship as well as the contemporary life of the people of the two countries.

Affirming that the good relationship between Vietnam and China is a solid foundation for implementing development cooperation in the field of radio and television, Deputy Director General Duong Quoc Thuy hopes that the Ministry of Information and Communications will continue to support the broadcasting of Chinese audiovisual programs in Vietnam.

Mr. Duong Quoc Thuy also expressed his wish for production companies of the two countries to cooperate extensively to exploit the international market together. In addition to traditional high school programs, he suggested exploring new fields such as short videos and short films.

Deputy Director General Duong Quoc Thuy shared many good experiences of China in the field of PTTH.

Over the years, the two countries have carried out many exchange and cooperation activities based on meetings between state leaders and memoranda of understanding. These include the Lancang-Mekong Audiovisual Week or the China-ASEAN Audiovisual Week organized under the direction of the Ministry of Information and Communications and the General Department of Broadcasting.

The two sides also maintain close cooperation on the content of TV programs, increasing the broadcasting of each other's films through major media channels, the Internet and applications.

Cooperation in the audiovisual industry continues to be promoted. The Vietnamese versions of entertainment programs such as Chi dep dap gio rou song, Bai hat cua chung ta, Day la nhac duong pho... are considered new bright spots in content and technology cooperation between the two countries.

Present at the meeting, representatives of Guangxi and Yunnan TV stations shared the results of cooperation efforts with Vietnamese media agencies.

Agreeing with the proposals from the General Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long assigned the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information of the Ministry of Information and Communications to make a plan and work specifically with Chinese partners.

Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long assessed that cooperation in developing the audiovisual industry between the two countries is a very potential field and can reach out to the world market./.
