Ms. Cham said: "The award is important and is a great encouragement to help me strive harder in my career of educating people." Ms. Cham is the character in the article: "Teacher left lunch unfinished, woke up more than 200 students to avoid landslide disaster" published in Dan Tri newspaper on September 24. On September 22, it was Ms. Cham's boarding school schedule. At 12:25 on the same day, it rained heavily in Trung Ly. Although she was having dinner with her family, she felt uneasy and worried about the students in the dormitory, so she decided to skip her meal, took an umbrella and went to school to check the situation.

Arriving at the school gate, Ms. Cham saw that the gate had collapsed. Looking up at the hill behind the dormitory, the soil was sliding down in patches. She panicked and ran into the dormitory to call for the students to run. After Ms. Cham called out, more than 200 students sleeping in the dormitory quickly left their rooms to avoid the landslide. More than 10 minutes later, hundreds of cubic meters of rock and soil from the hill behind collapsed into the dormitory, destroying 3 rooms. The beds the students had just slept on were deformed, the furniture in the room was shifted and severely damaged. Thanks to the quick-wittedness, bravery and timely action of teacher Bui Thi Cham, 214 students of Trung Ly Boarding Ethnic Primary School and Secondary School were lucky to escape the landslide disaster. Teacher Bui Thi Cham, from Cam Thuy district (Thanh Hoa), graduated with a major in geography from Vinh University. She was a contract teacher at Trung Ly Boarding Ethnic Primary School and Secondary School for 3 years. In May, Ms. Cham officially signed a contract with the People's Committee of Muong Lat district.
