This is due to the large number of individuals who undergo HMTN 4 or 3 times in a year in Dong Nai. At times, this number accounts for more than 50% of the participants in a HMTN session. At the same time, the number of people participating in HMTN for the first time is increasing, especially among high school seniors who have just turned 18 years old.

To achieve this result, we must first acknowledge the goodwill of each Dong Nai citizen in donating blood to save lives with the spirit: One drop of blood given, one life saved. In addition, a factor that significantly affects the results of the province's blood donation movement is the emulation and reward work. Timely recognition and honoring of blood donors many times and rare blood donors has contributed to motivating people to participate in this activity. Currently, information of blood donors is updated on the system managed by the Red Cross at all levels. This helps the gratitude to blood donors to take place smoothly and not miss out on humanitarian hearts.
Specifically, depending on the number of times they participate in the Red Cross, the Red Cross at all levels in the province will make a list to propose to the Red Cross Steering Committee at all levels for rewards. In particular, individuals who participate in the Red Cross 5, 10, 15 times will be considered for appropriate gifts by the provincial Red Cross Steering Committee.
According to regulations, 3 months is the minimum time interval between two voluntary blood donations. |
For those who have donated blood 20 times, the provincial steering committee for voluntary blood donation will propose that the People's Committee at the same level consider awarding a certificate of merit and the National Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation will award a personal badge for 20 times of blood donation. For those who have donated blood 30 times and 40 times, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross will consider awarding a certificate of merit and a commemorative medal, respectively.
For blood donors on their 50th and 70th blood donations, the National Steering Committee for Blood Donation will consider awarding bronze and silver plaques and personal badges for their 50th and 70th blood donations, respectively, and submit them to the Prime Minister for consideration and awarding certificates of merit.
In particular, for the person who donated their 100th amputee, the National Amputee Movement Steering Committee considered awarding a gold plaque and a personal badge for the 100th amputee and proposed that Party and State leaders meet and commend them.
In Dong Nai, many individuals and families with high number of amputations have been commended by the Ministry of Health, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Red Cross. A typical example is Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan (Dong Phu commune) who has had 73 amputations.
Mr. Tuan said that after his first successful blood donation, he realized that this activity did not affect his health, so he was very active in the following times. For Mr. Tuan, participating in HMTN, in addition to responding to the movement, what he wants most is to contribute healthy blood to help patients in need of urgent blood transfusion.
Not only did he donate blood many times, he was also the one who built the core force in the work of mobilizing voluntary blood donation. With the propaganda and mobilization of Mr. Tuan, his relatives and many people in the commune actively participated in voluntary blood donation. With his meaningful work, Mr. Tuan was awarded a certificate of merit, the "For the cause of humanity" Medal by the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc province, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross, the Minister of Health, and 100 outstanding faces of national voluntary blood donation...
In addition, for people with rare blood type Rh (-) who have had their 50th and 70th blood transfusions, the National Blood Donation Steering Committee will consider awarding them bronze and silver plaques and personal badges for their 50th and 70th blood transfusions, respectively; and at the same time, submit to the Central Government for appropriate forms of honor.
In Dong Nai, on the occasion of International Blood Donor Day, June 14th every year, the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation proposed that the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation reward outstanding individuals. In addition, the province ensures the proper and full implementation of the prescribed policies and regimes for voluntary blood donors, including: each time a voluntary blood donor is donated, the individual receives a "Vuntary Blood Donation Certificate", a gift (of their choice) and VND50,000 in cash. Each year, Dong Nai ensures the implementation of the regime for 34,000-39,000 people participating in voluntary blood donation.
From July 1, 2025 to present, the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation has coordinated with units to organize 7 voluntary blood donation campaigns and has received over 2,000 units of blood. The voluntary blood donation campaigns will take place in Tam Hiep ward (July 21 and 31), Song Ray commune (July 27), Phuoc Thai commune and Long Binh ward (July 30). |
Encourage voluntary blood donations
In addition to the above general policies, it is worth noting that depending on the ability to mobilize, the Red Cross at all levels and units with workers participating in the HMTN also support additional travel expenses, provide meals for 1-2 sessions, and arrange additional rest time for workers after the HMTN. During the mobilization of gifts, the Red Cross at all levels give the HMTN people eggs, milk, medical masks, etc.
In particular, the Provincial Steering Committee for the Movement of Blood Donation requires all association officials, volunteers and coordinating units to always show a cheerful attitude and behave civilly when interacting with blood donation participants. This first of all builds the image of friendly association officials, and at the same time creates a joyful and harmonious atmosphere in each blood donation campaign.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Khanh Van, in Tam Hiep ward, said she has participated in the Red Cross Donation Program 7 times. There were times when the Red Cross Donation Program had a large number of participants, so they had to wait a long time. However, from filling out the registration form, screening, to waiting to be called to the bed to have blood drawn, receiving gifts and benefits, the Red Cross staff enthusiastically guided and took the time to answer questions from her and her group of friends. This created positive emotions for the participants and, as long as her health allowed, Ms. Van continued to participate in the Red Cross Donation Program.
Like Ms. Van, a small thing that brings joy to Mr. Mai Hung Quang, in Loc Quang commune, in each blood donation is the care and thoughtfulness of the organizing committee members. Each glass of sugar water, each bandage, each question, the doctor's attentive examination or the carefully prepared snack have contributed to making his blood donations an enjoyable experience. Every year, he regularly participates in 3 blood donations and up to now, he has had 21 blood donations.
In recent times, the Red Cross at all levels in the province has been highly appreciated for its care for the HMTN people by maintaining continuous contact with them, organizing activities with each HMTN association, group, and club. Specifically, each commune and ward has built and maintained a live blood bank team, HMTN club, and rare blood club. These HMTN teams and clubs are the core force when medical facilities need blood suddenly. To encourage the meaningful work of members, the Red Cross at all levels in the province maintains meetings and collective activities, praising positive factors.
