Tram Chim ecosystem has the typical features of the ancient Dong Thap Muoi region.

Tet has faded since the 5th, although the sun still sprinkles spring light on thousands of flowers and grasses. Perhaps my Giap Thin Tet this year would have passed like that if it weren't for the call from Chris, a friend of my late years.

At first I thought he was calling to say goodbye before returning to Melbourne after a short business trip to Vietnam. But he said: "I'm on my way to your place. See you at Tram Chim National Park at 11am."

I had to ask him again several times because I was afraid he had misheard me, or more accurately, I thought he was joking, but Chris still seriously confirmed that he had changed his flight schedule. So the appointment officially began.

We made an appointment with a few friends, who all knew Chris when he worked in Dong Thap, and set off for Tram Chim on the 5th day of the Lunar New Year (February 14).

From Cao Lanh city, where we live, to Tram Chim is about 40km, an ideal distance to go by car or motorbike.

In fact, Chris' twist was like an extra-time goal, a wonderful Tet moment that made everyone in our group excited after the Tet days were passing by peacefully waiting for the curtain to fall.

When we met, I asked if I was not in Cao Lanh or busy with something. "Why don't we just play alone?" - Chris said, laughing out loud. He also jokingly said that doing so was also to test our relationship, otherwise, if we knew everything in advance, life would be no fun.

We got down to business right away, everyone quickly booked a tour around Tram Chim National Park by canoe (21km route) to conveniently sightsee, take photos and eat.

The pristine beauty of lotus fields helps heal the soul

When Chris was working in Dong Thap, Tram Chim was always his favorite destination. The wild and cool beauty of the world ’s 2,000th Ramsar site completely conquered the heart of an Australian nature lover.

Every month he goes to Tram Chim for a picnic, sometimes inviting our group to go with him, sometimes making appointments with his friends in the AVI Organization, generally to go "away from the noise and suffocation of the city, to observe fish, birds, trees, grass and to learn the lessons that nature gives us", as he said before.

Tram Chim is crowded with tourists during the spring days of Giap Thin. This is an ideal destination for everyone who wants to experience the ecosystem of the ancient Dong Thap Muoi region, as well as the specialties of the Mekong Delta.

Even though it is too familiar, every time I come to Tram Chim, I still have fresh feelings, being immersed in nature, listening to the birds chirping, watching the scenery will make my worries go away.

The tugboat took us through the canals, along the melaleuca forests to admire the pristine beauty of nature here. Occasionally the driver slowed the tugboat down so we could observe and take pictures of the birds.

With more than 147 species of water birds, Tram Chim is always an ideal destination for those who are passionate about wildlife photography. Of course, our group is one of them. Chris is always in the state of taking pictures. Hunting for birds is a moment, he does not want to miss the most beautiful dances that birds bring.

When stopping at a canal where there are rice fields and lotus fields mixed together, especially this season, the yellow Indian orchids are in full bloom in area A4, creating a poetic countryside picture for those who love taking photos with this flower.

In the distance, I saw the light smoke from the kitchen drifting over the roof, the storks flying, and the herds of buffaloes leisurely returning to their pens. At that moment, I felt peace in my heart. Sometimes we don’t expect that the shore of happiness is just that simple. It truly anchored an endless peace in my heart.

In the cycle of heaven and earth, spring is the season we look forward to the most, because spring brings joy. Spring bids farewell to the long years of the past, and begins a new cycle with better wishes for everyone. Spring has never been and will never be old, only the hearts of people become old again.

Spring is still spring, still fragrant and spreading joy everywhere. After all, we see that we should cherish every moment, live fully in the present, spread good values, and love while we still can, so that spring will come and bring splendor to each of us.
