The match had 12 yellow cards, 1 red card but few goals.

Taking place at Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia, USA) in hot weather conditions, the match was predicted to be very tense and in reality it happened as expected. Palmeiras, with a better quality squad and extensive experience in international tournaments, still entered the match quite cautiously against Botafogo - a team that showed disciplined play in the group stage.

The strikers on both sides were helpless during the official match time.

The two teams played a tight game for most of the 90 minutes. Palmeiras had better possession, trying to build from the back, but were caught out by Botafogo's well-organised defence.

On the contrary, Botafogo took the initiative to play low, taking advantage of the speed of the wingers to counterattack. However, the attacks of both teams were not sharp, not creating many clear opportunities.
