Ho Chi Minh City wishes to further strengthen cooperative relations with Japanese localities and partners.

On the afternoon of August 21, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, received Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo, Chairman of the Japanese Komeito Party, who was on a visit and working in the city.

Welcoming the visit of the high-ranking delegation of the Komeito Party, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen emphasized that the relationship between Vietnam and Japan is not simply economic and trade cooperation but also a sincere friendship built on trust, understanding and respect. The Vietnamese Government and people consistently consider Japan a leading, reliable, long-term partner and Ho Chi Minh City always considers Japan one of the most important partners.

Expressing gratitude for the important contributions of the Komeito Party as the ruling coalition party in Japan to strengthening and developing the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen asked the Chairman of the Komeito Party to continue to pay attention to and promote the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership in the coming time.

Ho Chi Minh City always pays attention to developing cooperative relations with Japanese partners in the fields of trade, investment, culture, people-to-people exchange and especially cooperation in training human resources and highly skilled young workers.

Affirming the desire to further strengthen cooperative relations with Japanese localities and partners, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen asked the Chairman of the Komeito Party to pay attention to supporting Japanese enterprises and investors to promote investment and long-term business in the city; promote tourism activities, cultural exchanges and people-to-people diplomacy to bring the relationship between the two sides commensurate with the potential and desires of both sides, contributing to the development of Vietnam-Japan relations, going deeper and more effective.

Thanking the city leaders for taking the time to receive him, Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo expressed his impression of the dynamic development of Ho Chi Minh City as the economic locomotive of Vietnam; informed that the visit and work in Vietnam of the Komeito Party's high-ranking delegation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations in 2023; the 15th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership and the 10th anniversary of the Extensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia next year with the aim of further promoting the cooperative relationship between Japan and Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo said that, as a partner of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in the ruling coalition, the Komeito Party supports activities to promote relations between Japan and Vietnam, especially in the fields of supporting infrastructure construction and training to improve the quality of human resources for the coast guard force.

Besides promoting political, economic and trade relations, it is necessary to further promote cultural exchanges and people-to-people diplomacy, because cultural exchange is the foundation for the development of relations between the two countries.

The Komeito Party leader said that currently, in Japan, hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese students and workers are living, studying and working, including about 170,000 interns and about 80,000 highly skilled workers.

Japan has launched a program that allows highly skilled workers to extend their working time in Japan and even bring their families to Japan, creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese trainees and workers to work in Japan with peace of mind and, after returning home, can contribute to Vietnam's economy.
