At least 60 people were killed in the Gaza Strip in an Israeli attack on September 26, Al Jazeera reported, citing medical sources.

"Of these, 30 victims were killed in Gaza City, where Israel has intensified attacks since launching a ground operation on September 16," the source said.

Additionally, 13 people were killed while waiting to receive aid near sites of the US- and Israeli-run Gaza Humanitarian Fund.

A series of locations including al-Wehda Street, Shati Camp, Nassr Quarter, and Remal Residential Area in the west of the city were attacked on September 26.

Reporter Ibrahim al-Khalili, reporting from Remal, said Israel carried out the attack without warning. Palestinians were seen searching for survivors in the rubble of a building while medics carried out the bodies of the dead.

"The area is still crowded as many people decided to stay. The situation has worsened as Israel has intensified its attacks on various locations," Khalili said.

At a press conference on September 26, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric condemned Israel for carrying out "a series of airstrikes" in the past 24 hours, causing "devastating consequences for civilians".
