Before the merger, each locality of the new Lam Dong province had its own potential and strengths. Now that the merger has taken place, those advantages have even more opportunities to be maximized because they are combined with other strengths: larger space, placed in a more harmonious economic entity and a cultural space with a richer identity. If Binh Thuan (old) has the advantage of developing a marine economy, in addition to the agricultural economy with the main force being dragon fruit, Lam Dong (old) and Dak Nong (old) have strengths in land resources and climate to develop an agricultural ecosystem: growing temperate fruits and vegetables, developing industrial crops, forestry economy...

In addition, Lam Dong and Dak Nong were previously two localities with very large bauxite reserves. A report by the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group said that each year, two alumina factories in Tan Rai and Nhan Co produce about 1.3 million tons of alumina. Meanwhile, the titanium reserves of Binh Thuan (old) are the largest in the country. This is a huge potential for Lam Dong to form new mineral industry development poles, then export through Vinh Tan border gate.

Dr. Dinh Kiem - an economic expert in Ho Chi Minh City said that the merger of 3 provinces to create a new administrative entity is a diverse gathering, creating a rich resource space from the lands in the Central Highlands to the sea of Binh Thuan. This merger not only brings mutual support in production between the economic growth poles of the new Lam Dong province, but also promotes the common growth goals of Lam Dong province.

A tourism expert - Mr. Cao The Anh expects that 3 provinces with unique cultural ecosystems: from names to cultural spaces, from beliefs to production practices, from architecture to community behavior... merging into 1 province will create a breakthrough in attracting investment for socio-economic development and tourism. From now on, Lam Dong has both sea and islands, flowers and vegetables, plus the UNESCO Global Geopark, Ta Dung Lake - a Ha Long Bay in the Central Highlands. The merger of Lam Dong also opens up opportunities to develop commercial vegetable and flower production, becoming the number 1 vegetable and flower capital of the country. In addition, agricultural products such as coffee, pepper, cocoa, macadamia and other fruits can be easily transported to be processed in industrial zones for export.

According to economic expert Dinh Kiem, the immediate task of the new Lam Dong province is to quickly establish a spatial plan for economic, cultural and social development, focusing on the connection between the East and West growth poles to create more space, thereby increasing the competitiveness of Lam Dong's specific products, in parallel with focusing on investment in infrastructure development. In the immediate future, by creating a new administrative entity, Lam Dong will promote the development of the logistics industry, and the transportation of minerals to Vinh Tan port will also be more convenient, leading many other industries to reach out to the sea.
