In a dispatch sent to the Ministry of Justice on September 29, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized that the two Brazilian players demonstrated dedication, professionalism and a desire to stay in Vietnam for a long time.

“Based on the request of VFF and the proposal of Mr. Kim Sang-sik, head coach of the national team, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism respectfully requests the Ministry of Justice to support the procedures for obtaining Vietnamese nationality for two players Geovane Magno and Janclesio Almeida Santos,” the document stated.

Geovane Magno was born in 1994 and joined Vietnamese football in May 2019. He has played for Saigon FC, Hanoi, The Cong Viettel, CAHN and is currently playing for Ninh Binh.

The Brazilian striker is highly regarded for his technical ball handling and scoring efficiency, with 21 goals during his time playing in the V.League. Geovane was an important factor in helping his former clubs compete for high rankings, and is also considered by many experts to be suitable for the technical style of the Vietnamese national team.

Center back Janclesio Almeida Santos, born in 1993, also arrived in Vietnam in June 2019. He played for The Cong Viettel, Da Nang, Ha Tinh, Binh Duong before joining Ninh Binh.

With his physique, competitive ability and many years of experience in V.League, Janclesio is considered a durable foreign central defender, contributing significantly to the defense system of the clubs he has played for.

If the naturalization process is approved, Geovane and Janclesio will become quality additions, helping Ninh Binh Club increase stability in its first season in V.League, while opening up more personnel options for coach Kim Sang-sik in the national team.

Previously, coach Kim Sang-sik also proposed naturalization for Gustavo Santos of Da Nang. The fact that many experienced foreign players are being considered for naturalization shows the orientation of expanding the player resources of Vietnamese football, especially in the context of a dense match schedule and increasingly high competition requirements in international tournaments.
