In recent days, candidate Au Nhat Huy, 24 years old, passed the medical doctorate exam at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, causing a stir in public opinion.
Talking to the press regarding this issue, a representative of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine said that candidate Au Nhat Huy met the requirements to be admitted to the doctoral training program at the school. The school recruited students according to regulations. The candidate registered and was admitted to the doctoral training program according to the school's regulations.
The school representative also informed that according to regulations, when staff and lecturers have relatives participating in the admission, they will not participate in any council in the exam. Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor of Medicine, Dr. Tran Thi Khanh Tuong, Head of the Faculty of Medicine, Head of the Internal Medicine Department - mother of candidate Au Nhat Huy, will not participate in any stage of this year's postgraduate admission.

As for the candidates' published scientific articles, they are not related to the admission process and are beyond the school's responsibility.
As VietNamNet reported, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine previously recognized 25 candidates as successful candidates for the 2025 doctoral program, including 7 in surgery, 4 in pediatrics, 11 in internal medicine, and 3 in ear, nose, and throat.
Notably, among these candidates is Au Nhat Huy, born on September 20, 2001 - 24 years old, passed the doctorate exam in Internal Medicine.
Au Nhat Huy has just graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, YK7 course of Tan Tao University with a GPA of 3.8/4.0 (excellent); TOEIC certificate of 940/990. The male student is the co-author of 6 scientific articles. He has presented at 3 international scientific conferences (Southeast Asia Cardiology Conference 2024 in Singapore, Cardiology Conference in Chicago, USA in 2025, Thoracic Conference in San Francisco, USA).
In addition, Huy won the First Prize at the Scientific Conference, Faculty of Medicine; ITA scholarship for the Future Fund 2021. He had a medical internship in Indiana, USA (2024), and was also the project leader of VMcomics - Dr. Plus Club.
On the scientific integrity group, Au Nhat Huy is the son of Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Khanh Tuong, Head of the Faculty of Medicine and Head of the Internal Medicine Department of the school.
In addition, this group also posted information that Au Nhat Huy's name appeared in at least 9 articles, including 3 international articles and 6 articles in domestic magazines. In these 9 articles, Au Nhat Huy was a co-author and shared his name with his mother in 7 out of 9 articles.
All nine articles were published over a period of eight months, from November 2024 to July 2025. On average, Huy appeared in more than one article per month. This raised public questions about the transparency of the school’s doctoral recruitment.
