Moc Chau town leads in OCOP products

Quyet Thanh Agricultural Cooperative, Moc Chau town introduces OCOP products at the Moc Chau Safe Agricultural Products and Trade Fair.

As a typical unit growing fruit trees and processing to increase the value of agricultural products, Quyet Thanh Agricultural Cooperative has over 30 hectares of fruit trees produced according to VietGAP standards. To improve product quality, reduce transportation costs, and reduce dependence on seasons, the Cooperative has invested in a modern processing line system, maintaining 6 processing lines, drying all kinds of fruits, with a capacity of 1.2 tons of fresh fruit/day. The Cooperative sells over 300 tons of all kinds of fruit/year to the market, with a total revenue of over 4 billion VND.

Ms. Luong Thi Thanh, Deputy Director of Quyet Thanh Agricultural Cooperative, said: Currently, the Cooperative has 6 OCOP products, including 4 4-star products (dried plums, dried bananas, dried persimmons, dried mangoes); 2 3-star products (dried papaya, passion fruit juice), helping Cooperative members and farmers feel secure in sticking with local specialty crops.

Tu Nhien Safe Vegetable Cooperative, Moc Chau town grows tomatoes in greenhouses.

Visiting the Tu Nhien Safe Vegetable Cooperative in Dong Sang Ward, we were impressed with the vegetable gardens that are scientifically cultivated and growing well. Currently, the Cooperative has 38 members, cultivating over 20 hectares of clean vegetables: Tomatoes, cabbage, cucumbers, squash... meeting VietGAP certified safe vegetable standards. Ms. Nguyen Thi Luyen, Director of Tu Nhien Safe Vegetable Cooperative, shared: The Cooperative always focuses on improving the quality of agricultural products and building product brands. The Cooperative currently has safe tomato and potato products that are recognized as 4-star OCOP products. Clean vegetables and tubers are trusted by many customers. Every year, the Cooperative sells nearly 1,000 tons of vegetables of all kinds to major supermarkets in Hanoi and many provinces and cities across the country.

To enhance the value of local specialties through the OCOP program, Moc Chau town directs relevant units to regularly organize training courses on knowledge and apply organic plant care techniques; organize field surveys of production processes at the grassroots level; support products and ideas with potential to build OCOP products... At the same time, organize trade promotion programs to promote and introduce local specialties.

Mr. Tran Xuan Thanh, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Moc Chau town, said: Participating in the OCOP program, farmers, cooperatives, and enterprises are supported in transferring science and technology; supported in building high-tech agricultural models associated with preliminary processing, processing, and quality management according to advanced standards. Up to now, with the efforts of enterprises, cooperatives, and people, Moc Chau town has 32 products meeting OCOP standards, of which 18 products have 4 stars, 14 products have 3 stars, leading the province in the number of products certified as OCOP products.

It can be seen that the benefits of building OCOP products have increased the value of agricultural products, developed the agricultural and rural economy in an effective and sustainable direction. After being recognized, OCOP products have increased the value of the subjects, improved the competitiveness of Moc Chau agricultural products in the market, and promoted the socio-economic development of the locality.
