(Dan Tri) - Learning through friends is the "golden secret" that helped male student Vu Hoang Hai excel and become the valedictorian of both blocks A and A1 of Da Nang city in the 2024 high school graduation exam.

The family of Vu Hoang Hai, residing in Hoa Phat ward, Cam Le district (Da Nang), is still surprised to hear that he was the valedictorian of both groups A and A1 in the 2024 high school graduation exam with scores of 28.8 and 28.7 points, respectively. Hai achieved high scores in the subjects of group A: math 9.8 points, physics 9.5 points, chemistry 9.5 points and English 9.4 points.

His father is a military officer, his mother is a teacher, so he has little time to take care of Hai, but he always tries his best and achieves excellent results throughout 12 years of high school. Hai is a member of the math team of Phan Chau Trinh High School, won second prize in math at the city level and achieved IELTS 7.0. On the day the exam results were announced, Hai woke up early to wait for the results and expected to get 28 points. Being the valedictorian of both blocks A and A1 was something he did not expect. "I already knew I would get high scores because I was very confident in my exams. But when I heard that I was the valedictorian of both blocks in Da Nang, I was very surprised because my exam did not have any 10 points and many of my classmates were much better than me," Hai shared.

To achieve high results, Hai focused on learning all the knowledge in the textbook program and solving many types of questions. He also has a "golden secret" which is to learn through friends, every night calling his classmates to solve the questions together. Hai has a passion for computers and dreams of becoming a technology engineer. He plans to choose Computer Science at the University of Technology - Ho Chi Minh City National University and has received a direct admission notice. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hang (Hai's mother) shared that Hai has always had high academic achievements since childhood and before the high school exam results were out, he had received admission notices from 6 universities. "Hai has the results he has today thanks to the special attention of many teachers," Ms. Hang confided.

Mr. Vu Manh Hiep (Hai's father) said that his son has always been in the top of the school's score but has never won first prize in any competition. He is very proud that his son is good and studies hard. Teacher Nguyen Thi Viet Thao, homeroom teacher of class 12/9 at Phan Chau Trinh High School, shared that Hai is an excellent student in the math class. The fact that Hai is the valedictorian of both blocks A and A1 is a source of pride for her and not too surprising because his learning ability is very high. "Hai is intelligent, has a very deep way of learning and is inclined towards self-study. When he learns knowledge at school, he will go home and study that knowledge more thoroughly. So he remembers very well any knowledge he receives," Ms. Thao confided.

In the 2024 high school graduation exam, Da Nang did not have any candidates scoring 10 points in literature, math, physics, biology, French, Chinese, German and Korean. In literature, 24 candidates scored the highest score of 9.5 points. There were 3 candidates scoring 9.8 points in math. Candidate Vu Hoang Hai, a student at Phan Chau Trinh High School, was the valedictorian of both blocks A and A1 in Da Nang with 28.8 and 28.7 points, respectively. The valedictorian of block B in Da Nang was Nguyen Dang Nguyen, from Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, with 28.45 points. Candidate Dang Lam Thanh Van, a student at Ong Ich Khiem High School, was the valedictorian of block C in Da Nang with 29 points. The valedictorian of block D was Huynh Hoai Duyen, a student at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, with 28 points.
