Canadian national broadcaster CBC News reported that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had dinner with US President-elect Donald Trump at the Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida (USA) on November 29. The offices of the Canadian Prime Minister and Mr. Trump have not commented on the above information.
The news of Trudeau’s trip comes days after Trump announced he would impose a 25% tariff on goods from Canada and Mexico until those countries tighten their controls on drugs, fentanyl and migrants crossing their borders. Any impact on the Canadian economy would not be good for Trudeau, especially given his declining popularity, according to Reuters.

* The US Department of Commerce on November 29 announced a new round of tariffs on solar panels produced in several Southeast Asian countries, according to Reuters. This is the second preliminary decision by the US Department of Commerce in a trade lawsuit brought by a group of companies alleging that major Chinese solar panel manufacturers with factories in several Southeast Asian countries have caused global prices to fall rapidly by dumping their products.
Under the new preliminary determination, the Commerce Department has calculated duties ranging from 21.31% to 271.2% on solar panels in the above group, depending on the company. The final decision will be made by April 18, 2025.
