Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh encouraged the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation to participate in the ASEAN Para Games.

In the letter, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: "I understand that the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation will attend the 12th Southeast Asian Para Games (ASEAN Para Games) from May 28, 2023 to June 9, 2023 in Cambodia. Due to work conditions, the Government leaders cannot arrange to attend the delegation's departure ceremony before attending this event. On behalf of the Government, I would like to send to all members of the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation my best wishes for health, victory and success.

The Southeast Asian Para Games as well as similar events on a continental scale (ASEAN Para Games) and the world (Paralympic Games) are sporting events with profound social and humanistic significance, demonstrating the will, determination and willpower of disabled athletes to overcome themselves, affirming that they are still useful contributors to the community, society and nation; at the same time contributing to strengthening solidarity and friendship between countries."

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh encouraged and wished the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation good luck.

The Prime Minister affirmed: "The Party and the State, all levels, sectors and the whole society always pay attention to the cause of developing physical education and sports in general and physical education and sports for people with disabilities in particular. I see that physical education and sports for people with disabilities in our country have been developing positively, helping people with disabilities improve their health, at the same time perfect themselves, confidently integrate into the community, and rise up in life. I know that Vietnamese sports for people with disabilities have participated in many sports events in the region, continent and the world, and have achieved outstanding results, including gold medals at the Paralympic Games; many athletes have become shining examples of will and aspiration to overcome adversity to rise up, making practical contributions to society and the country.

On this occasion, I hope and believe that the members of the Vietnamese sports delegation for the disabled, especially the athletes, will continue to maintain and promote their will, efforts and the highest determination to achieve more outstanding results, and win glorious victories at this congress; contribute to spreading the spirit of optimism, determination and good values ​​in society, especially for people with disabilities; promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam, and strengthen solidarity, friendship and cooperation among countries in the Southeast Asian region.

Previously, on May 17, at the National Sports Training Center in Ho Chi Minh City, a ceremony was held to send off the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation to the 12th ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia. On behalf of the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation, weightlifter Le Van Cong promised to complete all assigned tasks with the will to compete with all his might, with the noble sportsmanship spirit to achieve the highest results at the Games.

The Vietnamese disabled sports delegation attending the 12th Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia consists of 164 members. Of these, there are 16 delegation officials; 21 coaches, 127 athletes (including 2 guide athletes) competing in 8 out of 13 sports of the Games: athletics, swimming, weightlifting, badminton, table tennis, chess, judo and boccia.
